Preferred Length of Games
I'm curious what people feel is a good amount of time between turns to allow for a slow paced game that would still have weekly engagement (i.e. I do not want people waiting two weeks to submit orders).

In the finished games section why is there not a cancelled games option?
there is a drawn and won option, it is not fair to leave out the cancelled games. (And yes, i am stupid)

I can't take these $%#$%^& public games.
So I just started playing on this site, having not really played any Dip since some PBEM a number of years ago. I joined one game as a replacement, and started two others from scratch. All three games have been horribly imbalanced due to leavers, NMRs, and suspected metagaming. How do I get in some games with reliable people? These public ones just aren't worth my time.

RR is now live. Please let us know if you see any discrepancies for your stats and we'll see if we can fix it or find the error. Much thanks to ATC and jmo.

This means that CD count, NMR count, and RR score should now all be correct.

Some clarifications:

We haven't added the game creation feature to create RR limited games yet, because we want to wait until we're certain that the ratings are working correctly across the board.

CDs forced by mods as part of seating players in the right places for tournaments should no longer be counted.

RR is calculated as a combination of CD and NMR ratios. The best way to improve your rating is to play more games and don't CD or NMR.

Please let us know if you see any numbers CD or NMR that you think are incorrect.

One more thing: The NMR tracker only tracks turns from about mid last year. So if you NMRed (or submitted turns) before then, they don't show up.

I now have 3 civil disorders and a reliability of 84%. But i am 100% sure that i never missed 2 turns in a row.

A_Tin_Can (2234 D)

ssorenn- yours is correct too, I'm afraid. I'll PM you.

Kamen - I'll be adding a mod tool for displaying which games you've NMRed in. But, I can tell you that I was 100% certain that I'd never NMRed - but I have 3. After investigating them, they're all correct.
Yaleunc (11052 D(B))

My CD count is right. My NMR count seems a little higher than I would have expected (I only recall 2 NMRs and it lists 6). If you want to PM me the IDs I will double check them, though 6 could be right I guess.
Damn, that one week where I went to the Adirondacks and ended up NMR'ing really did a lot of damage to my RR.

as there is a limit for games played to be included in GR( 3 months i think) there should be a time for things to go away
Yoyoyozo (95 D)
05 Jan 15 UTC
Quick question: if I enter all holds, is that considered an NMR? I have 4 and I'm pretty sure I know where they are from.
I have zero NMRs and zero CD taken over,
now it says that suddenly I have 3 NMRs and 1 CD take over.
zultar (4180 DMod(P))
05 Jan 15 UTC
We have the ability to look at each person's CD games now. So, we can check with you via PM or on the forum. As ATC said, we'll work on looking at NMR next. So far, it looks like it's all correct. I had forgotten about one of my earliest CDs, so going back to that game revealed that I had just forgotten.

i also have taken over more than 5 Cds
I never missed a turn, what is this???
ghug (5068 D(B))

@ssorenn, games played are included forever in GR. It's just that people who haven't completed games recently are left off of the monthly lists.

i know i left 7 games(live) when i first joined the site, but since then i have never CD'd---a couple of drunk NMRs for sure but no CD

We will work on looking at specific nmr's next and cd take over isn't right for some reasons, but that isn't affecting your RR at the moment. We are aware of the issue and we will work on that.

ssorenn, here are your CDs:
Civil disorders:
Game: Classic fun live, country #: 5, turn: 7, bet: 25, supply centers: 4, ignored: 0
Game: You stay classy, Kiel, country #: 1, turn: 12, bet: 10, supply centers: 5, ignored: 0

i feel sad now?
A_Tin_Can (2234 D)
05 Jan 15 UTC
I am confident that CD count and NMR count are correct. We might add the ability for users to check their own data, since every case I've checked so far (including some of the moderators) the count has been correct. We're all less reliable than we think we are :)

CD takeovers may be too low in some cases. I'll look in to this.
JaimeR (100 D)
05 Jan 15 UTC
Any chance you'd publish some aggregate data on this? Given that we're all less reliable than we think, it'd be nice to know how we stack up in terms of relative reliability.
A_Tin_Can (2234 D)
05 Jan 15 UTC
JamieR: That's an interesting idea. It would help give users context for creating games too.
A_Tin_Can (2234 D)

IMPORTANT CHANGE: CDs from cancelled games are included. So, players no longer need to draw games to ensure that an early CD is recorded.
ssorenn (0 DX)
05 Jan 15 UTC
i know when i first joined site that i CD'd and left games, all live no less(doesn't make it better), but if you ask anyone who has played with me for the last year plus will tell you i'm one of the more reliable people around....so that being said, there should be a time where these infractions get expunged
JaimeR (100 D)
05 Jan 15 UTC
I agree with ssorenn's point. Last 20 games/6 months (which ever is longer) or something like that would be useful.

Thanks for making this function, though!! Sorry to be asking for additional features without having said that!

Thanks for the IMPORTANT CHANGE. It was really screwing up the stats.
Also, I'll give you (or the site) $10 if you show me which 10 NMRs of mine you have logged. I only know of 2.

Successful ludicrous openings
What is the most ridiculous opening that you've seen go on to success? I'm talking Turkey not taking Bulgaria in the spring, England not entering any seas, etc - where a player (deliberately or otherwise) handicaps themselves. And then goes on to pull a rabbit out of the hat.

Possible cheaters
I suspect 2 guys are cheating. One's good and the other's new. In the game I'm talking about one of them is supporting another to win EVEN THOUGH that'll mean that person will lose and the other will get a solo win. I did some digging and found that in another game they're playing as France and England. They are obviously allied in this game too. SOOO without further ado, if that's how ado is spelled, how do I report these bastards?
