We don't need to ban anyone, or silence anyone, this often makes things worse. Let's just unanimously promise to be more sensible while posting.

Learn reverse psychology. If you want them to be polite, you need to start a thread called "The official lousy forum behavior thread" wherein you criticize them for not using enough f-bombs and petty insults. Then they'll start being nice.

The trouble is we don't have a sincere, passionate, intelligent, argumentative and yet totally wrong person on the forum any more. We have a few sincere fools, and we have a few passionate intelligent types who occasionally argue and get things wrong, but that isn't good enough.

We need someone whose genuine, well thought out, and 100% incorrect views nearly the entire forum can unite against on a regular basis...

Yes. Yes some people did read what he wrote. Some even tried to reason with him. Those people are filled with a deep sense or remorse, and an endless grief for the time they will never, never get back.

I see SY's point too. And it doesnt seem to be only the loonies who are reacting strongly (not entirely sure about your list there SY...). It seems everybody is getting more caustic (exactly spot on word CF) and simply more rude.

And there's a fine line I have to say. I +1'd many of the above comments as funny which you could construct as offensive ('douche nozzle'??). But not much to +1 on many other threads.

FYI: The last few weeks were EVEN MORE crazy because blankflag was around, he's silenced now so we're back to the situation pre-bankflag post-SYnapse.
