Well a surrender would at least leave a country worth taking over. After 2 missed turns most CDs are in pretty bad shape!

i think that's pretty normal tex, i've usually noticed that there are far fewer "new" games than games with CDs for taking over.

Yeah, I know it's pretty normal but it is still an annoying and I'm bored so decided to rant a bit...

And we wonder why Turkey has the best record of any country on this site.

This phenomenon is partly due to the fact that some countries in CD are not worth taking over, so they can hang around on the 'joinable list' for days or even weeks, whereas new games tend to get filled up fairly quickly.

In the next version new and open games are in different tabs, but some people leave a game once they realize they can't win

Which is why we need to figure out a way to have consequences for CDs. If you CD in a game, you should not be able to join other games. Heck, I'd even support a feature that if you CD in one game, you immediately CD all your games. That way, people who just ignore one of their games will suddenly find themselves out of ALL their games!

No, I don't think that's a good idea.

I think it's difficult to punish CD'ers because a great deal of them are simply in the lower tier games where people are only feeling out the game and many are prone to just leave. Punishing won't help that problem at all.

Christ I wish there was simply a "surrender" button. I really don't think it would change the rate of CD's much at all, people who go CD do so because they just stop playing or logging in, sometimes for a legitimate reason (something happens in real life that leaves them with no time to play) and sometimes becuase they just give up.

I don't really see how setting up a way for people to leave a position as soon as they know they aren't going to stay with it would change either of those situations. It would just mean that those positions can be filled more quickly and before they become completely unplayable.

If anything clicking "surrender" is MORE work than just going CD. All that requires is doing nothing.

How about not giving the points back if someone takes over a CD country and having the new player also ante up? Removes the possibility that giving up is a better option than sticking it out.

That already happens. CDs don't get their points back and take-overs have to pay the currect PPSC for each SC in the position.
