Public Non-Anonymous Games taking a
With some crackdown activity by the Mods on multis in the past few months, it looks like the number of public non-anonymous games has taken a bit of a dip, suggesting that there were indeed quite a few multi-account efforts in these games. I for one appreciate the policing of such cheating.

F2F Game in Chicago Area
Hey guys, I'm going to be in the greater Chicago area from like January 2nd until January 12th or so. There aren't many webdipers located around me, but I figure there's probably 5 or 6 in Chicago. Would anyone be interested in playing a face to face game if I can find enough people?

Coming back from a hiatus...
Is anyone up for a game? Roughly 24-36 hour phases, classic map, gunboat or press. Open to Americas and Modern map as well. Pause for Christmas.

I already made this one: gameID=186783
But I'm willing to play a couple more games too.

Replacement needed in this game
Playing as Italy. It is early in the game. Entirely workable position, although there are some complications.

Are we going as an army walks, or as a fleet travels, or the longest of either?
pfranklin51 (140 D)
15 Dec 16 UTC
I was going with shortest route. Ankara to Paris is the greatest minimum distance, if that makes sense.
Ezio (1731 D)
15 Dec 16 UTC
by my count ANK to EDN is 9 moves min, while ANK to PAR is 8.
Kakarroto (128 D)

Sevastopol to Liverpool?
captainmeme (1632 DMod)
15 Dec 16 UTC
Technically Ank to Edi is 2 moves if you have a line of fleets between Con and Edi.
Kakarroto (128 D)
15 Dec 16 UTC
so we have to treat every coast to coast as one movement?
Kakarroto (128 D)
15 Dec 16 UTC
well if that's the case, then 3 is the highest number, and from any non coastal to non coastal supply center (like Vie -> Par, Munich -> Budapest)
Zybodia (355 D)
15 Dec 16 UTC
ANK to EDN is 7 if you go north through Russia, Ezio.
Zybodia (355 D)
15 Dec 16 UTC
And can you explain how you get from Warsaw to Paris in three, Kakarroto?
Zybodia (355 D)
15 Dec 16 UTC
I'm also getting 7 for ANK to Par...
Zybodia (355 D)
15 Dec 16 UTC
LVP>BUD or LVP>ANK seem to be the greatest minimum distance.
Kakarroto (128 D)
15 Dec 16 UTC
"Technically Ank to Edi is 2 moves if you have a line of fleets between Con and Edi. "

so if we take meme's approach here, which I don't know is correct or not, 3 moves would be the most for travelling from the two farthest apart SC's in the game (convoy and stuff).

Like Paris -> Piedmont; Piedmont -> Prussia (via convoy); Prussia -> Warsaw

Moscow-Portugal 2362 miles as the crow flies.1 day 18hrs by car.
Maniac (189 D(B))
15 Dec 16 UTC
@kara - I think you mean paris->gascony->prussia->Warsaw, but gascony-prussia can't be reached in one convoy.
Ezio (1731 D)
15 Dec 16 UTC
I was assuming the moves would have to be of the same type-E.G no flipping between army and fleets for the moves.
Kakarroto (128 D)
15 Dec 16 UTC
Who is this kara you are speaking of?

Oh, I get your point, you can't convoy Denmark/Sweden, pretty late yesterday :/ though Piedmont and Gascony are equivalent.

Well, Ezio, if there is no flipping or convoy involved, then: how does a unit starting at Liverpool get into budapest? Army can't cross the sea. Fleet can't go into non-coastal area.
Decima Legio (1280 D)
15 Dec 16 UTC
"Distance" between A&B, as far as I interpreted the rulebook, is the shorthest path from A to B... In amphibious mode.
No fleets/armies/convoys involved
Decima Legio (1280 D)
15 Dec 16 UTC
"Distance" is a measure involved during the winter auto-disband feature.
Certainly webdip has this measure implemented

Introducing 2 friends to Diplomacy
Hey all. I've got two friends that I play nerdy games with most sundays and we are looking to start a game here. One is familiar with the game the other is not. I'm looking for some players who will invest some time to give them a good game. More details inside (and I didn't pretype it, so chill)

What is your lineage?
Octavious invited me here from Facebook diplomacy, so he brought me into this world.
I believe I am the one who introduced CAPT Brad to this place, so I claim parentage on that account.

Who would you regard as the finest players whom you have played with on webDiplomacy?
As I said before, thus far the two best players whom I have played with are McFly and Kearns892. I have played with players who are ranked higher in the "ghost ratings," but that doesn't mean anything as it also accounts for prevalence of play.

I would be interested in hearing other people's responses.

Replacement Thread
Seriously Mods (or whomever) -- we need a replacement thread where people will sign up to be on a waiting list to take-over positions, etc.

Got a player in need of some help and can't find a replacement. Throw 'em some points or something for helping out...but this NOT being able to find a replacement for a game is....well....THIS is part of the problem with this site...just sayin'

Krellin's Peace-Loving Sweet-Talking War Game
Normally, it's a "Call Me A Dirty-So-n-So" series I advertise. But since all the kiddies are "triggered" and "scared", I offer a " safe place" in a sweet-talking Series Opener.
MODERN, Low Cost, 24 hour full press, all press must be disgustingly sweet.
