Re: Twenty questions, round 260
We're left with:
-Liechtenstein
-Austria (part)
-Czechoslovakia (very small part)
-the Soviet Union (Estonia, Latvia, part of Lithuania, very small part of Belarus)
-Svalbard and Jan Mayen, since they're not on the map despite being part of Norway
-maybe some other small islands that aren't on the map, hence the QM's hesitation

He is also a famous politician, but I checked anyway a few minutes ago and he is not from the small part of Austria that hasn't been eliminated yet.

Re: Twenty questions, round 260
Free guess: Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (his island is not on the wiki map)

Ah, this would definitely explain the hesitation.Aristocrat wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2024 7:01 pmFree guess: Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (his island is not on the wiki map)

No. Again, you are looking for someone who is significantly more famous.
No, but a very good try. You're looking for someone at least as famous as him.Aristocrat wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2024 7:01 pmFree guess: Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (his island is not on the wiki map)
Re: Twenty questions, round 260
If its a Dane, on the ground that his tiny island is not shown an extremely small scale map, I will barf. No specific locality is shown on such a map. Denmark has been clearly excluded, in my interpretation of the answers.
Re: Twenty questions, round 260
I did push for interpreting "marked as dark-blue" as a reference to the countries listed as dark blue in the legend of the map . . .

Re: Twenty questions, round 260
I just thought of a place that I can't believe I didn't think of before: the Faroe Islands. However, I don't think there are any famous actors from there.
I'll wait until the answer is discovered before I pass judgement. If the answer had been Nikolaj, my issue would have been that his birth island is also not on the green Wikipedia map of Europe, which is the established standard for defining continents in this game.

The Afroeurasia question at the start of this game did not come with a "green box" clarification.Hominidae wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2024 7:52 pmI just thought of a place that I can't believe I didn't think of before: the Faroe Islands. However, I don't think there are any famous actors from there.

I believe that the Faeroe Islands are in fact colored dark blue on that map, though the three little specks that I am referring to don't look much like the real archipelago.Hominidae wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2024 7:52 pmI just thought of a place that I can't believe I didn't think of before: the Faroe Islands. Re: Twenty questions, round 260
Born anywhere other than Liechtenstein, Austria, Czechoslovakia, Svalbard, Jan Mayen, Norway or Belarussian SSR?
Hopefully this narrows it down to the Baltic States at a longitude further north than Copenhagen, or it at least eliminates somewhere that we haven't thought of.
Edit: added Norway

Re: Twenty questions, round 260
The problem is if there are any extremely famous actors from the Baltic States, they would have come up with a Google search for Estonian/Latvian/Lithuanian actors.
I'm going to ask another question: was this person born in a location on this list? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dependent_territory
Conditional guess if the answer to both my and JECE's questions are "yes": Henry Cavill
Re: Twenty questions, round 260
That would be the 20th question, I think. You sure?Hominidae wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2024 8:13 pmThe problem is if there are any extremely famous actors from the Baltic States, they would have come up with a Google search for Estonian/Latvian/Lithuanian actors.
