No. I'm not sure he's most famous for fighting in WW2. I would say it was his charity work in 2020.Captain Tom Moore

Good guess. One of my favourite figures of WW2. But not him.Free guess: Louis Mountbatten, 1st Earl Mountbatten of Burma
So far you've only narrowed it down to perhaps a million English-born soldiers or sailors (or possibly non-pilot airmen). Consider questions on what formations or what campaigns he fought in.

Yes, but to be clear I am answering that literally. If you meant "Northwest Europe" I didn't take it that way. This answer still includes Northwest Europe; Norway; Sicily/Italy; Greece/Crete/Dodecanese; the Eastern Front; or commando/special operations. Most famous for fighting in Europe?
One more question.

Re: 20 Questions - Game 248
I think the assumption is generally yes, and kind of E counts.Diplomacy&Warfare wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2024 8:54 pmPlease clarify: In the answer to question 6, would an "e" count as an "E"?
If no, free guess: Bernard Montgomery
I'm less sure about what happens with non-Latin writing systems.

when saying born in England, are we referring to specifically England, Great Britain, or the UK as a whole?

Re: 20 Questions - Game 248
Unless QM says otherwise, I think it is commonly understood that “England” would exclude Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.kingofthepirates wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2024 9:16 pmwhen saying born in England, are we referring to specifically England, Great Britain, or the UK as a whole?

Re: 20 Questions - Game 248
Somehow my comment didn't go through. I specified "what is currently England" because Wales was technically part of England until the 1960s.Aristocrat wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2024 9:18 pmUnless QM says otherwise, I think it is commonly understood that “England” would exclude Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.kingofthepirates wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2024 9:16 pmwhen saying born in England, are we referring to specifically England, Great Britain, or the UK as a whole?
