Servility Gets You Stabbed

#1 Post by swordsman3003 » Tue Feb 18, 2020 3:14 am

Hello friends. It's been a while since I've posted something. I've been quite busy with my personal life. But that's under control now, and so, here is another article for your reading delight:

The Top 5 Reasons You Get Backstabbed, #3: Servility
To play as a "servile ally" is to overlook the threat that your successful alliance poses to you. What does it means to play like this? How can you avoid it?

A very thoughtful analysis. I enjoyed it.
By the way, I am a Care Bear (which is fitting me now I am thinking about it as because of my size I am sometimes nicknamed Bear)

That's exactly what a Scare Bear would say, William.

Ask my allies!
You mean your cooperative rivals?

Νο, my allies! If I get to an alliance I will honour it until the end, I am not feeling right to betray someone who trusted me. Be warned though, if you stab me, better do it well because if I survive I'll do my best to get to you.

There is another player just like you, when I encounter him I always try to make an alliance with him and not break it as long as possible. This can be a good strategy if you can find a match but most players (including me) tend to stab when they see someone in weakness. Still, I respect this kind of players more than our kind, need to see more of you.

Arrogance gets you stabbed, too. Everything in moderation, in Dip as in life, is often though not always for the best.

So I sort of expect #s 4 and 5 to be some combination of

- your ALLY is doing too well, and even if you're not explicitly dropping your guard to him, even a relatively minor stab can put him in strong position for a solo
- your alliance stopped gaining progress / stalled out / is about to stall out, and your heretofore ally is gonna pull the ripcord while there's still time to change the board in his favor

but I guess we'll see!
