Are female superhero movies unpopular because…

#1 Post by brainbomb » Tue Aug 30, 2022 10:38 pm

I noticed that Captain Marvel, Miss Marvel, She Hulk and Black Widow are getting weak audience reviews.

is this because men hate female superheroes

or is it because these shows and films suck

or is it because of something else?

Marvel sucks in general.

I tried watching them all since I hadn't seen any and I heard it gets really good by endgame, and I couldn't get past Thor 2.

Ironman 1 was okay, but compared to the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy it was pretty shallow and vacant.

Hulk was boring, which is impressive because how did they make the hulk boring?

Iron Man 2 was a complete mess. Like what?

Thor 1 was actually pretty good. No complaints there

Captain America 1 was actually okay too at the start, but then it goes off the deep end.

Avengers was fun I guess but it's not a movie you watch twice.

Iron Man 3 was actually okay too, definitely the best of the ironman series.

Thor 2 broke me and I stopped watching after that

Ive watched most of them. The female heroes have come later in the big run, though, and people might be tired of it. Time for a set of westerns.

I don't know much about the audience who watches these, but it was a very head scratching decision to not give Black Widow her movie before Avengers? Like make Iron Man 2 a Black Widow movie instead.

The 2017 Wonder Woman movie got good reviews and made a lot of money.

Another of the biggest questions is why didn't they replace Capt. Marvel with Wonderwoman when she already had a successful movie

"Why didn't they replace Capt. Marvel with Wonderwoman when she already had a successful movie?"

Wonder Woman is DC Comics, not Marvel.

I often wonder why they dont just bring back wesley snipes and have him go evil and hunt down federal prosecutors who put him in jail

This is my favorite internet comment so far this year.

Captain Marvel was okay, but I thought the plot was a bit weak and the acting of Brie Larson wasn't too great.

Miss Marvel seemed fine for a kids show, but wasn't really my cup of tea.

She Hulk TBD

Black Widow would have been much better had it come out immediately after Civil War. Also, it has some glaring plot issues and headscratch moments.

I think they *can* do better. Hawkeye was largely female-centric and it was really good. Jessica Jones on Netflix too.

Because they belong to the genre for 7-year-olds? Really, if you're an adult and watching these movies WITHOUT your kids, something is wrong with you as an adult. And recently, they fall victim to indoctrination. So really, if you're an adult and watching these movies WITH your kids, something is wrong with you as a parent.

I have to agree that marvel movies after endgame and infinity war have been off putting and dull. Eternals was just unwatchable, I turned it off a half hour into it.

Shang Chi was alright but marvel has so much bloat in its stories now. Spiderman feels like the best marvel entry since infinity war and nothing has measured up to it.

I liked the loki series and wandavision but the winter soldier show was bad, and hawkeye was decent.

I'm not sure about your personal excursion in my direction.

The superhero movies are so repetitive and formulaic, they're not entertaining. My wife and I paid the $19.99 to stream the Wonder Woman movie when it came out. After 15 minutes we'd seen enough.

The last one of this genre that I enjoyed was the Avengers. (Not that I've seen too many of them.) The Black Widow was as likeable as the other superheroes.

On a slightly different genre, I very much enjoyed Atomic Blonde, with Charlize Theron. Great fight scenes, way better than the Bond movies. I don't think you can say men won't enjoy movies with female action heroes or superheroes.
