Arctic Ocean - NWT move?
Hi hi, sorry for perhaps a dumb question, but did not realise that the arctic ocean is indeed connected to northwest territories in the fall of the american empire map?
Really confused by this as it is not obvious from the variant page on this site. I had a skim of the variant page, and while it is possible I may have missed something the variant notes seem not to have anything that suggests this is valid?
Not sure if we can discuss ongoing games but if it is a bug can post ongoing game link

You can discuss ongoing Full Press games, but not Gunboats. I'll have a look at it.

It's also not obvious to me from the variant page. I've brought the matter up with the rest of the mod team. I don't know what the correct answer is, as I've never played this variant.

On our sister site vDiplomacy I have verified that you indeed can move from Arctic Ocean to North West Territories.

This must be an adjacency bug, because the two territories are not drawn to border each other and its said nowhere in the rules that they are connected. Adjacency bugs appear frequently in new maps. I am surprised that such an old map still has one.

I've played the variant a number of times and I didn't know that. That's good to know... odd. Maybe it's just a retreat bug?
Re: Arctic Ocean - NWT move?
If you look at the original variant homepage it looks from the map like this isn't a bug, and the islands to the north of NWT are considered part of NWT, which is how they border. However, the adapted webdip map makes it appear like the islands are part of the sea territory. A bit confusing.

I see. According to the original variant homepage, Beaufort Sea and Nunavut should not be connected though, yet they are:

I'd therefore call it either a mixture of a bug and bad drawing, or a mixture of a bug and a departure from the original variant.

Nope, it doesn't work that way. It is an adjacency issue, affecting both retreats and regular moves. It would actually require extra effort to make a distinction between territories you can move and territories you can retreat to.Magnetic24 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2019 12:35 pmI've played the variant a number of times and I didn't know that.
