Free guess: Suzanne Collins, author of YA series The Hunger games and the children's fantasy series The Underland Chronicles. I'm not sure but I'm pretty certain The Hunger Games is quite a notable work.

Scratched, but for the record, if I had chosen Collins, I definitely would have answered "yes" to the notable written work question. If someone is notable enough to be a 20 Questions answer, and their primary source of fame is being an author, than their written work counts as notable by definition. Where it gets tricky is if there's a famous tennis player who writes an autobiography, or something like that.
