I don't know Cats well but wiki says he has mystical powers. Maybe a different Cats character?

Free guess: Crookshanks, Hermione's pet cat in the Harry Potter series, that's the only one I can think of from the list of fictional felines on wikipedia
If no: Does it appear in this list of fictional felines on wikipedia?

No, as far as I can tell.Aristocrat wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2024 7:03 pmHas this character appeared in a movie (regardless of where it first appeared)?

I think figuring out why "first introduced in a book" and "best known appearance in a book" were passed will be really important.

Can this cat talk and/or is the work where this cat appears comedic in nature?

1, 2, 10, 15: Fictional house cat (Felis catus).

5, 8, 9: Is not supernatural or mythological.
6, 12: First introduced after 1900 AD.
7: First appeared in Europe.
11, 12, 14. Not first introduced in animation, comic strip, or poem; has not appeared in a movie.
13. Does not appear in this list of fictional felines: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fictional_felines
Pass: First introduced in a book, best-known for appearance in a book, can talk and/or is comedic in nature
Not:
The Cheshire Cat (JECE)
Macavity (damo666)
Crookshanks (DrFidelis)

Has ANY non-educational, non-mythological importance? (ie, scientific)
If yes, free guess: Schrodinger's cat

I have made a few outside the box picks, but this was more of an inside the box pick. I suppose it is fitting that I had to pass so many times.
Also, I considered liking Wattsthematter's post on the counting game thread, but I think that would have made it too obvious.

Nice pick! Why the pass on the talking/comedic question?

Re: One score questions: round two gross
1. The question just said "the work where this cat appears" without specifying the original work. There have certainly been comedic works that have featured Schrödinger's cat.
2. The original article in which the cat was introduced describes the scenario as "burlesque" which implies a certain degree of humorous intent, but whether that counts as "comedic" is questionable.
For the record, I passed on the book questions because (1) I'm not sure if a scientific journal counts as a book, (2) the cat was first mentioned in letters between Schrödinger and Einstein, but whether that counts as the first introduction is also questionable, and (3) for the second question, I have no idea what the most famous work with Schrödinger's cat in it is.
