Re: Live game

I think you're more likely to attract people if you include a link to the game :-)

Re: Ranking

So if I got this right, one can pump up his rating by joining open positions and gaining some points, and if a player rank Diplomat bets all his points in one game he will become political puppet? Technically, yes. Or you can get points at random from a raffle. That's why no one (should) care about...

Re: Ranking

The purpose of the ratings is to more accurately measure the true skill and ability of players by weighting games not by the size of the pot but by the t...

my bad, 'personal info'
We'll need a hardcopy birth certificate from you before we believe your real name is Flavius Aetius.

Sunstriker seems legit as a first name though.

 Is any of this relevant outside of tournaments? Isn't GR better than points when it comes to the "eternal" ranking of cash/pick up games?
...
GR also takes the scoring system into account. If you care about your rating, you'd do well to play accordingly.

This explains a lot about VillageIdiot. Definitely wasn't a long-term choice ;)
Agreed, you can't hold that cap for too long. Someone crazier will come along eventually.

It's allowed when the username reveals personal information, or when you win the yearly Zultar Xmas raffle..

Re: Changing names?

It's intentional you cannot for several reasons. Most importantly, it requires manual labour from our admins and is prone to mess up the database. You're also not allowed to create a new account. In short, you're stuck with this forever.

Re: Two Tier Scoring

Jay's point #1 would matter a lot for F2F. That's an important perk in tournaments.

That one is interesting to me. Turkey opened to the Black Sea but still decided to work together with you. You could be on to something.

Being a mafia player seems to be a pre-req for being a mod these days.

Guess we're good at spotting bullshit.

Well,... most of the time.

Congrats Kit!!!
I had only played one game here when I joined the team. Don't think anyone considered me a 'Mafia player'.

Re: Two Tier Scoring

I've only played CarnageCon outside of Europe. Unsurprising, it featured Carnage scoring. It's the epitome of rank-based scoring. Technically most rounds were unlimited, but the other players were unhappy when I vetoed a Draw at 10PM (I had a shared board top). They were relieved when I accepted at ...

Re: Two Tier Scoring

It looks very interesting and I like the premise. One thing I would like to clarify after reading the article: Lead/Rank-based scoring is used almost exclusively in Face-to-Face, because of the relatively fast end (typically predetermined at something between 1906 to 1911). As a result elimination i...
