Re: Pause vote question

Correct. When considering votes the system only looks at players who are still in the game. Any player that is defeated or has left (whether that be a civil disorder from missing turns or a ban) will not be considered when counting votes

Re: A rant about Reliability Rating

Yeah the default RR setting for games is 80% (obviously lower if the creators RR is below 80), and rarely do people raise that, especially not past 95%. You shouldn't be missing out much from a single 5% penalty.

Re: Live game settings

To follow up on this: Live games will start at the start time regardless of when they fill up. Games with longer phases will begin as soon as they fill up. There isn't a setting for this, it's based on phase lengths. We've designed it so that in live games you don't get taken off guard, but with lon...

Re: Discord Bot for Notifications

Man maybe I'm running into the limits of my tech skills, but like what do you mean by "using" d.help? I tried sending "d.help" as a message to the bot after getting the bot to appear on my server, but nothing happens. Well then you either didn't set the bot up correctly or its broken. I couldn't te...

Re: Discord Bot for Notifications

From their documentation it looks like you use the command set to hook a channel up to a specific game. So:

d.set [gameID]

It looks like you have to configure the bot first, not sure if you have done that. You can use d.help to get available commands.

Re: Announcing the 2020 Masters Tournament

People have different tastes, and when you get used to one map, another map might seem weird. I personally like the clean look of backstabbr, but I still can't wrap my head around their support arrows, being used to webdips. The sandbox mode is really what makes sense for the f2f scene. Easy to mirr...

Re: Convoy conundrum...

Okay well at this point its a disagreement on semantics. There are two schools of thought here. I'll stand by the DATCs definition and interpretation of the rulebook.

Re: Convoy conundrum...

Also from the DATC: Some people argue that some situations are not convoy paradoxes, since the rules give a resolution for those situations. Hence, for a proper discussion on paradoxes, rule XII.5 of the 1971, 1976, 1982 and 1992 rulebooks and the rule on the top of page 16 of the 2000 rulebook, sho...

Re: Convoy conundrum...

I'm working straight off of the DATC. In fact, the DATC says: "The most common paradox is when the attacked unit supports an attack on one of the convoying fleets." Not only does the DATC state that this is a paradox, it is the most common. I think what you are trying to assert is that a convoy para...

Re: Convoy conundrum...

This question looks resolved, but since Claesar name dropped me, I guess I'll give my "authoritative" answer here to clear up any confusion. As pointed out by almost everyone, the convoy fails. As pointed out by several people, 6.F.14 of the DATC covers this issue, although the scenarios are not exa...

Re: Forum Public Press Game Thread

France, where were you when I needed a reasonable and talented French ally at the beginning of the game? Your effort is certainly a breath of fresh air here.

Re: Forum Public Press Game Thread

As a gesture of good will, I will disband my fleet in EC and build an army. I am not a threat to you and I would be willing to cooperate on invading Germany. If I weren't Germany I would be so happy to see this. This is the best press for France yet. It might even be the best press of the game, dep...

Re: Variant rules game for players who like co-operation

Clarification of alliance rules, all in one place: The three alliances are I/R, A/F, TG. England is alone The alliances are free to make deals with other players on the board. The alliance partners may not make any deals or moves that are hostile to each other. They must act in a complete spirit of...

Re: Variant rules game for players who like co-operation

So the rules are now: These alliances are unbreakable. You win together, or lose together. An alliance wins by eliminating both other alliances. England wins by surviving until a draw is agreed. This means that both an alliance and England could win simultaneously, which will actually make England a...

Re: Forum Public Press Game Thread

Italy: The only way to ensure France doesn't get a build is for me to go to Marseilles with your support. That is the order I have entered here. If you support me in, I understand that this is a short term thing, and evetually I will be able to take Paris and vacate Marseilles for you to take. If y...
