Might as well throw a free dart at the board before Q20: Ron Swanson
That is correct! Ron Swanson it is! Congrats Aristocrat!

One of my favorite characters of all time. He's really funny.

Good pick, tv characters can be difficult

Good one. Nick Offerman was a previous subject.

Free guess: Dr. Perry Cox (Scrubs)

If not, question: did this show release new episodes since Jan 1 / 23?

This character has a love-hate relationship with the main character of the show. Neither are disliked by viewers, however. This character is iconic from the show they come from.

I'll give another hint after guess 20 if you're still stuck.

Does the TV show this character was introduced in take place in contemporary times (i.e. it's "set in the present" as opposed to historical or futuristic)?
OK, unscratching this.
Yes. Set in (with the exception of a few episodes) the present (as in the present as of the show's release)

Has an actor or actress ever received one or more Emmy, Golden Globe, BAFTA, or Saturn award nominations for portraying this character?
I can't say I'm 100% sure on this one, but after ten minutes or so of internet scouring, I don't think anybody won any of those awards for portraying this character.
The question was nominated and it looks like you answered won, but I'm fine sticking with won for now (just flagging in case someone wants to ask a follow-up).

Actually scratch this. I'm worried this won't narrow it down at all.
