After reading through the phase 1 game yesterday I did a little brainstorming for new coalition ideas. This is one I came up with:

The "Trendsetting" Coalition: This coalition has a normal leader and anyone can join it. Points are awarded depending on the order in which people join this coalition. The leader gains 3*n points. All other members are awarded 3 points plus 3 point for each member who joins after you. At first I was thinking of calling this the "Cryto-currency mining" coalition, but it could model anything that becomes a trend. Those who jump in early are more rewarded.

I don't like it much, as it would just give people who are online constantly (like me) an unfair advantage.
