Free guess:

The Bride (as portrayed by Uma Thurman).
Correct! The Bride aka Beatrix Kiddo aka Arlene Machiavelli aka Black Mamba. Well done, Jamie.

I checked the anime scene by a clip on YouTube. It wasn’t until I decided to rewatch the whole movie that I realized that the YouTube clip had been cut short and didn’t include the bit with the Bride.
Nice one!

The "aha" moment came when I realised this character appears in exactly two films.
And in animation for like 30 seconds :)

I honestly have no idea of popular culture here.

I though rule VII says I can exchange my free guess for two additional questions.

What do you think it actually says?
You're wrong about this; that is not what it has ever said. We never get more than 20 questions, in total.

oh… thanks

But I think you're in a tough spot on this one. So here's what I propose:

1. Someone should make a free guess.
2. I'll answer both the last two questions.
3. For the final 5 questions, I'll let you know if you're warmer or colder than the preceding guess (according to my own subjective interpretation of what that means and the guesses I'm assessing).

Question IV says that everyone gets one free guess.

Question VI says that players can only guess twice in a row before someone else gets a turn (where guess includes questions as well as non-free guesses).

Question VII clarifies that you can ask two questions in a row and still spend your free guess without having to wait for anyone else to go.

Is the main plot in a contemporary setting?
If anyone wants to make a free guess before I answer the previous question (happy ending), that will be 20 questions and we'll be in the final 5.

If you want to make this the 20th question, I will switch it out. But you're down to your last question.

I want to make use of rule VII:

Does the story have a happy end for the character?
Well, when I answer this question, that takes rule VII out of play, so I’ll give you a moment.
