25 Feb 19 UTC | Autumn, 1994: So many twists and turns!! |
25 Feb 19 UTC | Autumn, 1994: never imagined retreats this soon |
26 Feb 19 UTC | Autumn, 1994: hostory shows that french usually retreat from germans ;-) (kidding) Ya interesting 1st turn. Unfortunate turkey player undermining things |
26 Feb 19 UTC | Autumn, 1994: "history" |
27 Feb 19 UTC | Spring, 1995: I think Turkey is just going for a strictly defensive back pattern, ensuring survival into late game. ;-) |
27 Feb 19 UTC | Spring, 1995: Well, they do retreat from the Germans when the Italians backstab them and support the Germans against their ally :) especially after saying their plans to attack Germany |
27 Feb 19 UTC | Spring, 1995: Let the world know of Italian betrayal |
27 Feb 19 UTC | Spring, 1995: I often wonder what WWI would have been like if Italy had honored their original treaties with the Central Powers. The war was such a close affair; if France to defend their southern flank and Austria could put all of their forces against Russia it's hard to think that it wouldn't have been enough to turn the tide. Though at the same time I can also imagine Italy as a soft underbelly and could have been easier to navally invade than the Dardanelles. |
27 Feb 19 UTC | Spring, 1995: I don’t think Austria-Hungary had the leadership or national cohesion to withstand the loses that WWI required. It may have made a difference for Germany and the Schlieffen Plan or in putting the final kabosh on France’s will to fight. |
27 Feb 19 UTC | Spring, 1995: Losses* |
27 Feb 19 UTC | Spring, 1995: Considering A/H lasted till 1918 I think we can at least say they would have done better if they only had to worry about Serbia and Russia. Probably they would have still needed German assistance but I agree it would have been the Western front that would have been the most changed. |
28 Feb 19 UTC | Spring, 1995: I wonder what would have happened if the Ottoman Empire decided not to fight. |
28 Feb 19 UTC | Spring, 1995: There might still be an Ottoman Empire? |
28 Feb 19 UTC | Spring, 1995: haha - lots of interesting dimensions! as to France's claims - we never promised to attack germany - although there is certainly disagreement over switzerland. why couldn't swi just stay neutral instead of provoking everyone?? |
28 Feb 19 UTC | Spring, 1995: Hoping someone pressures germany in north (brit/rus/pol) Fri 22 Feb Spring, 1994: Go ahead and take Austria, I can do switzerland ~Sat 23 Feb Autumn, 1994: Yes - swi only stopped if i worked with germany. I see germany being a bit aggressive with attempted move to Als. Good you blocked! Sun 10 AM Autumn, 1994: Yup. We can divide Germany if you want :) ~Sun 02 PM Autumn, 1994: how do you propose? |
28 Feb 19 UTC | Spring, 1995: In the spirit of transparency I am posting my communications with Turkey. I know it is only a matter of time before Wikileaks becomes a thing and I want the world to know I have nothing to hide: Thu 21 Feb Spring, 1994: What a strong country to get. Though you only have to choose if you want to move north or south. Sat 23 Feb Autumn, 1994: There is always someone who doesn’t show up. Though Turkey is the best poised to recover from a lost turn. You have theoretical plays into Bul and Geo so could get a +2 turn with good diplomacy and luck Sun 08 PM Autumn, 1994: Hope you show up |
28 Feb 19 UTC | Spring, 1995: I’ll show the world Italian trustworthiness |
28 Feb 19 UTC | Spring, 1995: I don’t think that shows untrustworthiness. Germany made a better pitch. This isn’t Happy Fun Land where everyone wins and holds hands. |
28 Feb 19 UTC | Spring, 1995: Hi New Turkey here, hope can establish new relationships and alliance, thanks! |
28 Feb 19 UTC | Spring, 1995: Nice, we have a Turkey! |
