20 Oct 16 UTC Spring, 2000: Hi all - my ambassadors are working hard on their Spanish, French, Canadian, Bronx, Dixie, Hippie etc language + accent skills. Forgive us if we say something wrong ;-)
20 Oct 16 UTC Spring, 2000: Heartland, I have no idea where you are from, but I can promise you that "American Standard English" has no less than thirty dialects, even with the internet slowly taking them away.

My grandfather for example, being from East Texas (on this map, a little bit NW of where Dallas, Houston, and Louisiana all meet.) speaks a combination of Low German, and Twang (East Texas English).
22 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 2000: Oh I believe you - the US is a big country with so much diversity. I'm from Canada and we have at least a few dialects. Ya internet and cell phone slang have own dialect. That's neat about your grandfather - ironic you got Texas in the game!
22 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 2000: Quebec currently swearing at me in French. Something about how Ontario
and Manitoba are his.
22 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 2000: I get Texas nine times out of ten... actually. I think the system knows that. (but I will never complain about this)

I always get BC in world matches though... I can't figure that one out for the life of me.
22 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 2000: California, BC, and Mexico: The Empire of Tejas would like to formally claim sovereignty over Arizona. I will be... not happy, if anyone else guns for it.

Does anyone have a problem with that? and if so, lets talk it out.
22 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 2000: On nation choosing the system goes by completed games...so if you join a bunch at the same time, it is implementing the same "preference" for a nation. Once you finish games, the system "knows" that you have played that nation and then reduces your chances to get it again for a while.
22 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 2000: Oh.

huh.

thanks.

So this is why I also suspect (But can't prove) why I'm always also seeming to play Russia, and Carthage?
22 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 2000: I saw a moderator once says its random but that can't be true. I always get an African country in world - middle easr once - seems strange

Heartland can send peacekeepers to Arizona if no agreement? Will take us 2 years (why do tanks move so slow in diplomacy? ;-)

22 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 2000: NERD FACTS COMING AT YOU. FEEL FREE TO NOT READ.

The reasoning behind territory sizes and army movements being so slow has to do with the classic map.

why some things were divided in the classic map to be multiple territories was due to population sizes, the thinking being that if something is large, it should be underpopulated in the surrounding countryside, so the army would encounter little to no resistance while moving. (Examples include Nunavut in this map, or basically any Russian Territory in Classic) Small territories need to be densely populated, as for the army to move through it, it would take a lot of man power to remove opp for. (Examples could be, and US or Mexican state here, or Any region in the Balkans in Classic.) ... Keep in mind that when you move an army somewhere unopposed, (Like if BC moved Nevada to Utah this next phase, no other player could do anything to stop him) If you moved somewhere unopposed, it's still assumed that the army will encounter, Utah state militia, sickness, logistic issues, Moral slumps, Officers disobeying, and various other issues that might prevent an army from getting far. Furthermore, most armies in WW1 were conscripts or untrained.

... so yeah.
22 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 2000: I love history / warfare - thanks for that explanation.

By the way my french translator just explained messages from Quebec. Whoa. Something about what he's going to do to my grandmother. Maybe my translator isnt good at job?
22 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 2000: I simply asked for Ontario. Not sure what was wrong with that
26 Oct 16 UTC Spring, 2002: Ouch heartland, the betrayal hurts
26 Oct 16 UTC Spring, 2002: no 1 is safe
26 Oct 16 UTC Spring, 2002: NY? what are you talking about?
27 Oct 16 UTC Spring, 2002: NY : Betrayal? What about Ohio?

Cuba: that is true. Diplomacy is a cruel game. I've just learned that in a game of Med.

Texas: exactly - what is he talking about?
27 Oct 16 UTC Spring, 2002: We were allies and you took Ohio from me, and you're still moving against me now
27 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 2002: BC, that wasn't nice.
27 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 2002: Ohio was supposed to be mine originally as we had discussed - you went there when supposed to focus north... but anyway. Let's not fight on public - we can meet at the bar and I'll buy you a beer ;-)
27 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 2002: Unless your underage - then I'll buy you a juice.
