26 May 16 UTC Spring, 1994: Hello everyone!
New players should read http://webdiplomacy.net/help.php
particularly the intro page (http://webdiplomacy.net/intro.php)
and when you have time, the full rules (http://www.wizards.com/avalonhill/rules/diplomacy.pdf).
Note also that the 36 hour turn is a _maximum_ . If everyone (including you) marks their orders as "ready" the game will progress more quickly.
26 May 16 UTC Spring, 1994: Just a note on this modern version, you can build units in ANY supply centre you own and not just ones in your home country (as far as I know).

And to restate the above regarding readying your move. The momentum of the game works better if you make an effort to make a move at least every 18-24 hours. :)
26 May 16 UTC Spring, 1994: Though the first turn or two (when many diplomatic agreements must be discussed) will likely be slower.
26 May 16 UTC Spring, 1994: Of course :)

I also recommend you make enemies of all your neighbours, destroy each other and let me win. ;)
28 May 16 UTC Autumn, 1994: For the new guys, because it wasn't super obvious to me on my first game.

28 May 16 UTC Autumn, 1994: go for Denmark and than we can help each other across to England

28 May 16 UTC Autumn, 1994: And be careful not yo put messages in global chat that are meant for an ally :p
31 May 16 UTC Autumn, 1994: Looks like Britain may be out. So should be good for either Russia, Germany, France or Spain. whoever rushes it best. My guess is Russia as everyone else has gone in another direction.
31 May 16 UTC Autumn, 1994: Britain's still in been in London over weekend
03 Jun 16 UTC Spring, 1995: People are dropping out :( if Renard &/or Ben0 leave as well I think we should call draw and go back to smaller map
03 Jun 16 UTC Spring, 1995: ........agreed here.......
03 Jun 16 UTC Spring, 1995: ... or just gobble up the abandoned countries and have a 6-player contest.
Not that an empty Italy and Egypt would particularly benefit me, or an empty Britain and Germany would benefit my neighbour, France. ... not at all :)
03 Jun 16 UTC Spring, 1995: on the plus side though, once a player misses 2 phases in which they should have put in orders the game marks them as "left" so we won't have to wait for them any more.
03 Jun 16 UTC Autumn, 1995: Apologies for slacking at orders all. There needs to be a way to ping an email when the turn is processed....
03 Jun 16 UTC Autumn, 1995: Generally just sign on briefly at least once a day and you shouldn't ever miss a turn
07 Jun 16 UTC Autumn, 1995: Note also that "Ready" will allow the game to progress more quickly than "Save".
You'll still have 36 hours to get your orders in, just once all are it won't wait for the remaining time.
09 Jun 16 UTC Autumn, 1996: games getting really interesting :)
