Political article, must read

A plea for sanity. I can think of a few people here who could benefit from reading this. I sure know I will.

Diplomacy on the web
I have been at WebDip for a few months now, and I think I've got a pretty good idea of the flavor of the site and its regular users. How does it compare to the rest of internet diplomacy?

Daily Bible Reading--John 1
This thread isn't meant to provoke argument, but if it does, that's ok. It's just a place to come for a one-chapter dose of the Bible. Today's reading is the first chapter of John's story of the good news as he personally experienced it, translated into modern English.

And Jesus spake, as only he spake, "Fuck off, Mujus!" And Mujus was sore alarmed. Alarmed enough to take his God's command for real and act upon it.

"^ Damn, Krellin is on fire today!"

Aye, Krellin for president! Well said, Krellboy!

Mujus, one thing everyone, friends and foes will need to hand to you, is that you sparked an avalanche of creativity here. Lot's of intelligence and humour creeping forth, finding air under it's wings in the environment you created.
That's a christ-like feat in itself.

I would like to ask you, Mujus, one thing seriously.
It typically happens when I speak with a Christian that we get along well. I'll just nod to all he is saying, "yeah, that's a good description of my experience too", and he'll be delighted with my contribution to the conversation too. It is good to meet now and then persons who like to speak of the "big topics".
But ultimately he appears to be some kind of a seller. He won't be satisfied unless I accept some kind of a deal: He wants me to wear the JESUS-tag, and that, in the end, is all he cares about, as if all his talking was something learned by rote to serve as a selling procedure for the JESUS-badge.

Well... I'm a bit short of time now... I would like to put this question in the best way I can... For short now... I seriously ask you, Mujus, with all respect...
I don't need the JESUS-badge. What difference does it make to me or the rest of the world if I walk around advertising myself as a "Christian."?

I understand why people are making fun of this behaviour here on this forum, as we may feel that we don't necessarily have to hear and only hear Jesus to have insight about life, death and creation.

And what about idolatry? I think I get closer to my maker when I drop that.

Why does this forum exist? I reckon it is so that people who enjoy Diplomacy can discuss matters relating to Diplomacy. Perhaps it is also helpful for members to get to know one another. But If I want to use the forum, and I have to wade through countless threads on religion (or kayaking), which do not promote the purpose of the forum, then I'm being spammed.

I enjoy kayaking, and I want others also to experience the pleasure which kayaking has given me. But if I incessantly post threads on this forum about kayaking, then people will recognise me as an idiot and a spammer, and my behaviour will reflect badly on other kayakers.

There are enough kayaking sites, and also enough religious sites.

So Mujus, do you see how your behaviour reflects badly on yourself and other Christians?

"So Mujus, do you see how your behaviour reflects badly on yourself and other Christians?"

ChrisVis, Mutejus has muted this thread and cannot see your message (although it certainly is a very good message you have!). He has also muted me, or I would pass your message along. At any rate, you'll have to PM him or post in his unmuted Daily Bible thread (and Lord knows which one he reads, God damn it).

Did something change with how muting works?
Used to be, you could briefly see (and hit ESC to fully read) muted posts/people. Now, I can hit ESC before the javascript executes, but I still don't see posts form people I muted. Did the code shift to muting server side? If so, cool, but also "bummer" as I'll have to unmute people to see their bullshit (and them me if they have me muted).

Please stop being hypocritical
We ask Mujus to create a single thread for his quotes and he has done that. Please be considerate and do the same. If he wants to discuss the bible every day and there are people who want to do the same, please let them. Stop making a mockery out of their freedom of speech.

Iberian bug?
Is there a bug in this game? the A1901 opening F MAO - SPAIN - SC with A SPAIN - POR has failed to work in 2 successive games.

There is a rule against swapping places I think, but that is not what these units are doing here.

Jack White's album is another gem. He really has the portfolio to be in the discussion for greatest guitarists of all time.

Daily Secular Reading
Well, last time we did a poem by a tragic, mad, male genius, Mr. Poe...how about a tragic, mad, female genius, Emily Dickinson? (We'll do someone from the British Isles tomorrow, so don't worry, this thread isn't going to be a sad example of American Exceptionalism and shut out the rest of the English-speaking world.) So! A very short poem by Dickinson (and how prudent this one is, given these "Daily Bible Readings") and more talk of her inside...
