Don't be silly. The only way of winning is to send thousands of your own people to foriegn countries to vote for you, and sing a song all about how much you love Europe and peace and friendship and the environment and holding hands and everything fluffy.

Other countries don't sing in English because they're ashamed of their own language - English just happens to be the only lingua franca Europe really has and songs are more accessible if they're in a language that people understand. It's hard to see how small nations like Latvia could ever fairly compete if they were forced to sing in Latvian each year.

I personally think Germany has a very strong chance of winning.

Although, I don't understand how Jedward / Ireland are so favourited by the bookies.

You talk about fairness in a song contest where a nation of a few thousand people has the same voting power as one of 80 million? Eurovison isn't about fairness! It's about bringing Eurrope together for a night in which they can get a taste of some of the culture of their neighbours and have silly little parties across the continent. Every year more and more nations choose to sing in English in styles that are almost identical to each other, which coincidently is symbolic of everything I hate about the EU.

Oh, now I see that was deliberate. I was just going off of first impression looking at a Jedward video (never heard of them before). I guess they covered Ice Ice Baby and did public appearances with VI.
