Building
Additionally, one should not be able to build units outside the 3 starting supply centres (4 in Russia's case). Should be high priority!

Spring capturing
As of now, you can actually capture supply centres in Spring time. This is a major error from the original rules. For instance, France can capture both Spain and Portugal the first year, using only a single army. Bug?

Help
Im sorry if i sound really dumb, but as you may have realised Im new to PHP diplomacy. I know the game, having played the board version before, but i was wondering:
How often are moves processed here !?!
I've looked right through the help pages, but i cant find it. Sorry to those of you to whom this is blindingly obvious, but i thought i'd better find out before i started..!

Other's Moves
After orders are submitted and movements are made, we should be allowed to see what moves other countries attempted. In a real game we would be privy to ths knowledge, so it should be available to us here, too.

0.75 Todo list
Okay, holidays are here and I've got around to phpDiplomacy on the todo list. Here's the todo list in order of priority:

- Get rid of the annoying refresh on game pages
- Improved communication, too many people are playing without discussing strategies, which I think is due to the poor messaging system. I'm going to try and improve this so more emphasis is placed on communication
- Game listings, these aren't ideal, games which didn't start because there weren't enough players clutter things up, and games which you were defeated in are still listed in "Your active games"
- Unit creation locations, you can currently create a unit anywhere that you have a supply center, you should only be able to create them in your starting supply centers.
- Retreats, you can currently only retreat to places that you "occupy" (in the sense that you were the last player to occupy that territory), but in the game the restrictions are that the province must not have had a standoff, and the province must not be where the attacker game from. You cannot retreat to these places at the moment, but you also cannot retreat to places you should be able to retreat to.
- Standoffs, at the moment standoffs make the standoff territory unoccupied, and if the territory is a supply center it will belong to no-one. Who occupies the territory shouldn't change after a standoff
- Self dislodgement, you can currently dislodge your own units, but you shouldn't be able to

These are the biggest problems with phpDiplomacy atm as I see it, hopefully I'll be able to sort them out for 0.75

If anyone has any other requests which are fairly small or that you think are important, let me know here.

Good luck! I look forward to the changes, although it will have me rethinking some things, since I didn't know the full rules of diplomacy.

Happy Holidays

Convoy Rules! Go check the conversation we had a few weeks ago regarding support for a convoyed army etc.

I have a few requests.

Can we get a pause button? We play at work and every weekend someone misses their turn and it ruins the game.

Allow the user to set the time limit on turns. This is my biggest request.

Remove the 24 hour initial delay.

We should be able to see everyone's turn history. It is hard to tell people's intentions when you can't see exactly what they did during their turn.

Oh...and keep the password requirement for taking over a country that is in civil disorder.

Also, can you move our completed games out of the same tab as our active games? Right now they show in both the Finished Games tab and the Your Games tab and they don't really need to be in both places.

You have holidays already ?
Damn... And mine are still so far away... :(
Where are you from ? I'll move to there. :p
I want holidays !!! Now !!!
And it would be interessant if you could have some more phases between 2 Unit Placing Phases.
Another cool thing it would be that the 3-day absense limit of Diplomacy was modified to a 3-day absense limit of a certain game. I mean, some players just give up of 1 game and don't go see it anymore but continue to login in Diplomacy to see his other games and the ppl who's playing the game in which he's doing bad have to wait till he gets destroyed.

> Convoy Rules! Go check the conversation we had a few weeks ago regarding support for a convoyed army etc.
Sorry dangermouse, but improved convoy rules are something which specifically won't be in 0.75, it'll take a lot of work to get the convoy rules up to scratch, after the adjudicator upgrade I'm making now they'll be the main thing that's missing, and including an upgrade to convoy rules would probably make it more of a 0.8 upgrade than 0.75

> Can we get a pause button? We play at work and every weekend someone misses their turn and it ruins the game.
We were talking about adding a CP for games Patrick, but this will be not a trivial thing to add so whether it gets in will depend, if not now it'll be in there in a later version.

> We should be able to see everyone's turn history. It is hard to tell people's intentions when you can't see exactly what they did during their turn.
I'm reluctant to add this, because I want everyone's moves to be clear just from looking at the map. Eventually I want all support moves, failed moves, retreats, unit placements, etc, to be clearly visible on the map, and this would remove the need for GameMaster output, which would be a lot less to translate and much clearer.

>nd it would be interessant if you could have some more phases between 2 Unit Placing Phases.
I'm not sure what you mean Sampion

> Another cool thing it would be that the 3-day absense limit of Diplomacy was modified to a 3-day absense limit of a certain game.
Hmm it should work like that already, you only have to be absent from a particular game to end up leaving that game, you don't have to be absent from the whole site

I'll be able to get whatusername's suggestion in, and probably the other ones that I haven't mentioned above

Thanks for the suggestions

You don't really need to fix this thing, but I spotted an grammatical error with the build orders.
For example:
Create a army at Marseilles.
is supposed to be
Create AN army at Marseilles.

Then again, this really isn't important.

It's just my opinion, but the map that views the turn history is rather small, which makes the turn history hard to read. Myself, I'd rather have turn history categorized by country in text so that I can easily reference what a country tried to do with their turn, if there is a failed turn, it could just show the attempt and add (Stalemate) at the end of the line to show that it failed or something. Also, it's really hard when the picture keeps on changing, I find myself having to keep on changing the number in order to make sure I'm looking at the right turn.

I think the map will eventually be able to display all the moves that happened in a turn clearly, and you'll be able to view it on the large map.
I'm also going to make history browseable turn by turn, instead of going through automatically every 5 seconds. I think putting it all on the map would be better in the long run than a long text output

Pause
Since I'm being backstabbed in 3 games now, i'm gonna take a pause from this game. I think it's the lowest you can do, and very depressing. If you want to win a game, do it fair, not in a treacherous way.
Luckily there was 1 player whom I could always trust (he'll know whom i'm talking about), thanks for that.

Error
I've gotten this error several times over the last few days when I try to open this website:

Internal Server Error 500

The website you are trying to reach is temporarily inaccessible.
Please try again in a few seconds.

If the error persists it is most probably caused by a website configuration, which is in conflict with the permissions allowed on the server.

If the error is displayed occasionally it is most probably caused by reaching the allowed usage limits for some server resources.

Retreat bug
In the game Comrades, it says I have to make an army retreat. However, the army in Trieste wasn't even attacked! In fact, there are no units that could even attack Trieste.

Here's the message from GameMaster:
Your army at Trieste was overwhelmed by an attack from the army
from Budapest, and forced to retreat.

There was no army in Budapest, either.

SQL locking bug
The bug in the post below, and the bug which was posted about today, I am pretty sure was to do with the locking code.

This is the code which I'm using at the moment:
list($success) = $DATABASE->sql_row("SELECT GET_LOCK('".zeroseventwo_."_gamemaster', 5)");
if ($success == 1) {
$DATABASE->sql_put("BEGIN");
require('gamemaster.php'); // Process any games which require processing.
$DATABASE->sql_put("COMMIT");
$DATABASE->sql_put("SELECT RELEASE_LOCK('".zeroseventwo_."_gamemaster')");
}

I think it should guarentee that only one thread can process a game at a given time, but it wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong about locking so I'd appreciate any input if anyone has experience with this.

The database is in the state it was in around 27 hours ago when the first bug cropped up, MGAM3 has been removed and any moves made after 27 hours ago have been undone.

Sorry about this, hopefully this will sort it out, thanks for your patience,
Kestas

"Ends in: Process pending."
The game Europe2point0 seems to be in some sort of limbo. It should be advancing to the next turn, instead it says the current turn ends in "Process Pending"

Retreats.
Fleets are not allowed to retreat in to lands or seas that their country was not in previous occupation of. However, there is no way to mark occupation on a sea.. A valid retreat for a Fleet attacked in the Ionian Sea would be to retreat to the Adriatic Sea. However, if NO ONE has previous occupied the Adriatic, retreat there is impossible. This should not be.

I understand why units are not allowed to retreat to the area where they were attacked from, but ANY OTHER OPEN SPACE should be a valid retreat route, whether the unit has been in that space or not and whether that space is marked occupied by another country or not.

Technically, if you are forced to retreat from an area, you could retreat into an open adverse supply center and take it for your own.

The current glitch restricts movement and position far more than it is supposed to.

Bug
At Game id=75 [1901 Autumn Move]

Your army at Spain
attempted to move into Marseilles but there
was a stalemate.

And then, Marseilles become an empty region occupied by nobody...

Unit created for a unit which doesn't exist
There was an error message being recieved for a while there. Unfortunately once I started debugging it, only making changes which help me pinpoint the bug, the bug stopped happening.

The bug has something to do with the order management code or unit placement code, as lots of the recent ones have been, and I'll definately be giving all that code a thorough look through before the next version. Thanks,

Turn time
In the game TanksandShips there are now only 4 remaining players. Everyone has turned orders in however the game has not advanced to the next stage. Is this a bug or do the rules change once 3 players have been eliminated?

Two relatively serious errors
1) Any unit that does not actually attempt to move should be able to be supported. Currently a unit must actually "hold" to recieve support and cannot be supported if they "support hold" or "support move". ex. If I control Belgium and Holland I should be able to make them support eachother, required an attack with support on either one to dislodge.

2)Further down in the forum I noticed that you stated official rules state convoying cannot be supported. This is incorrect. What it says is that "support cannot be convoyed". An army being convoyed CAN recieve support so long as the unit doing the support is adjacent to the final destination of the convoy.
Illegal support example -> F English Channel convoys London to Brest
A London to Brest
