there are specific diplomacy tournament rules to handle automatic disbands but the adjudicator of this site don't care about these rules; the same problem regards draw games.
i call these anomalies: bugs.

i'm sure there are tournament rules to cover it aswell, but this is the one place where there is the most variation in the rules across formats.

DJ, if they haven't brought the game up, then under their name at the bottom it'll say "Missed last phase" or something like that. But if they have brought the game up, I don't think you can tell.

Would be nice if the order log had something to differentiate. And maybe it does, I don't know for sure.

Out of interest, Dingle, what prompted you to ask this question?

I ask because of an ongoing game with an odd disband... *if* the player got their disband in, it was very late in the turn, and the have since put in moves for the next turn.

"I am trying to determine whether the player missed the phase or not, and whether he entered a disband that makes no sense, or whether the player is rational or not. "

Draug pointed it out in another recent thread. I did double check the rules so if I mentioned it I would know I was passing on good info, but credit goes to Draug for making me aware.
