Mod, need pause

This is a tournament game, and someone requested a pause while they flew to Australia from someplace. We have two people that haven't paused, and the game moves to the next turn in an hour. Can someone force pause this?

Mods:

This game gameID=14902 has been paused for almost two months now. It would be unpaused but for one player refusing. Is it possible to just draw it across everyone, or offer everyone points for their supply centers or something? It's just really annoying because it's been on my home page forever, and it is not going to move unless you guys do something about it. Let me know, thanks.

Forum feature request:

Can we have a search bar for the forum so that we can find old threads?
It would be faster than scrolling through the forum or checking everyone's thread-and-reply lists.
It would also be helpful if we wanted to see if some subject had been talked about in the past.

Bug: why are not all the thread and reply postings not visible on people's pages?

It would not be much of a problem if this were in the past, but the missing ones are the most resent. Without a forum search feature, is next to impossible to find a particular thread.

What is the goal in PPSC games?

Up until recently, I've exclusively played PPSC games, but have never been sure of the goal of the game.

If I'm not mistaken, in a PPSC game, the players could claim the neutral SCs and then draw without even attacking each other and still gain points, so apparently points are not the goal in a PPSC?

I've run into some situations where there really isn't any point in trying to win in a PPSC game, since you can survive much easier and get almost as many points. This takes out a huge part of diplomacy. Although I haven't completed any WTA games yet, I'm wanting to exclusively play WTAs from now on.

No msmth82 if you draw with seven players you get your even share of the pot. The only time when SC's count are in a situation were player A for example wins and get 18/34ths of the pot and player B has 8 sc's so get 8/34ths of the pot. In a draw howeverno matter the sc count players get an equal peice

As far as the goal of the game... TO WIN and if you obviously can't win you try and force and if another playeris obviously going to win you try and survive

the differences:
1. in PPSC you can go for 2nd or 3rd place and give up on victory
2. there are more draws in WTA (noone allows anyone to get into position to win)
3. wta is closer to the spirit of the game (only one wins)
4. more stabs in wta (in order to win)
no difference in ghost rankings (except the fact that there are more draws in wta)

@denis Ok I see where I was wrong. I was looking at the "Bet:"/"Worth:" indicators by each player and thinking that they'd get those points if they voted to draw. But I guess drawing splits it equally, so those indicators don't mean anything in a draw.

WTA is so much more cutthroat from my experience. Getting into a winning position is so much harder that you have to stab and expect to be stabbed. Definitely a tougher game. In PPSC if you find yourself a good partner and have a good strategic plan you can get half the pot without too much difficulty. The finding a good partner can be the hardest part.

From my stand point the goal of a PPSC game is to amass points.

I find in WTA if you are the second strongest power at the time and can convince the others to stop the biggest you will usually win.

who plays for points? really, just play well and stab freely, you'll end up with points if you win and otherwise you can simply play passworded low-point games with people you talk to on the forums, you know the nice people who you haven't trolled.

WTA of course is the way to go.

I personally like the PPSC games. I think they are more true to life. If you have found a good partner then stabbing them after reaching a certain point is not very realistic. It would be like th US invading the UK at the end of WWII. There is still the possibility of a stab in PPSC games but I don't think you should be forced into it!

This is a weird argument. I played the boardgame of diplomacy once and none of us said hey there are no points for winning so there is no point playing. Whether it's PPSC or WTA you should always be trying to win or settling for a draw if you can't.

Points are just there to filter out the learners and the cheats from the more reliable players and PPSC is a good way to get enough points to do it.

How do we get a new player?

The player responsible for Turkey in our game got banned - I tihnk from the whole site. So how do we get a new player? Is the open spot automatically advertised under "Games" - "Open" or do we have to actively do something?

Anyone know?

Why is there no support arrow when support was cut?

It means that other players can not tell whether a player ordered a support move or not. It would be great if cut support were also visible, but with a greyer color or something. (i.e. "yellow grey" for support move that was cut, "green grey" for a support hold that was cut)
