Imperial Domination
Slow 'Colonial Variant' game. 5 D buy in, pretty long phases. Just want to try this new map out.

I've noticed a trend in posting announcements of births, deaths, birthdays etc on here, so thought we could keep them all together here?

Irritating move in gunboat game
Hello to all Diplomacy-Experts,
please have a look to the game gameID=15723 and the Turkish support for the italian convoy in 1903. Is this a normal move? Could Turkey anticipate this?
Thanks a lot for your comments.

This is a very common question. The answer is yes it is possible to guess other players moves in a gunboat and provide support without cheating.

Best email the mods if you have valid suspicions.

I really don't see anything to be suspicious about there. Italy clearly meant to convoy when me moved the army to Naples.

Congrats to Italy for doing so well! :D

Yes, irritating if you're Austria perhaps, but not too unlikely a move to assume cheating.

If not I/T have been coordinated all game long, constantly giving support to each other.
If it is a one-shot issue - np.

I agree with Ursa. It's pretty stinkin' obvious that an Italian army, when sent to Naples, is probably about to be convoyed out as soon as possible.

Personally, though, I would have ordered that army to Apulia instead as it gives me more flexibility in the event that I might change my mind.

But if he wanted it VERY obvious, then the move to Naples was right.

No, it was me....I am Spartacus....though granted, I am not in the game in question.

Look , I know I might be arguing for my own sake here. But the move was actually executed by me.. But it was a total coincidence and a chance occurrence..

It's actually really simple.
Turkey is in war with Austria at the moment.
Turkey felt that he wouldn't be able to get Rumania
So priority was to keep Bul
That's why bls support Bul hold
Nevertheless, there was no point in attacking Mos, so ukr-rum with sev support was the only choice and it also worked.
Now, since Italy moved to Nap it was obvious that a convoy to Greece was coming.
So Turkey had two possible moves
Either aeg-Gre with Bul support with risk of a bounce with Austria
Or just have Bul and Aeg support Nap-gre.
Since Turkey is in war with Austria helping your enemy's enemy is a nice choice.

Something fun I like to do:
I like to scroll through the move history and track to see what happened to my initial starting units (especially in long games). Some of their campaigns are quite amazing!

Finally I won my first game! And a live game at that...
After being on here for almost 5 months I've finally won a game. Surprising to me, it was a live game -- the first one I've ever played. Check it out if you'd like: http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=16092

Does anyone else feel like live games are easier in a way?
