question about a game
In this particular game: gameID=14198, austria was defeated, turkey survived with no SC's, and Italy resigned, also with no sc's. How come? They are all dead, since the game ended in the autumn and they all have to destroy their single unit that's still in the game anyway....

No, Scones are heavy. American biscuits are light and fluffy and taste good warm with melted butter, honey, and jam or smothered in sausage gravy or split open and used for the bread on a breakfast sandwich.

Yet another thing we have in common. Biscuits and sausage gravy with hasbrowns on the side. That's a stick to your ribs, warm you up breakfast on a cold January morning.

Biscuits are NOT pancakes. they are lightly broned on the outside. Standa at least an inch tall (good ones are two inches tall!) and are light and flaky. Depending on how they are made, they are sometimes layered like a croisant, but a heartier bread than any croisant could ever be.

And they are also excellent under SOS.

I think American biscuits are unique to America. Their origins are to be found in the south.

Here is the wiki for biscuits and it has a good example picture of an American biscuit next to a British one. they equate American biscuits to scones, but I've had scones when I was in europe (6 hour Heathrow layover so I did the 007 tour) and they tend to have a harder exterior and be a more dense bread.

Oh, and SOS stands for shit on a shingle, but it is creamed chip beef over some kind of bread usually and is a military staple. I do so love it.

Well from what you call biscuits we call scones here.... and our biscuits are very similar to Englands...tho we got more variety being the most multi cultural nation on the planet;)

All I know is every scone I ever hard was hard on the outside and very heavy/thick. American biscuits are oh so light and fluffy!

So, do you prefer "swamill" white gravy or sausage gravy? I like the thick, greasy, wonderful tasting sausage gravy over the thinner, smoother sawmill gravy. But then I like lumps in my gravy.

i love sausage gravy, but i usually make my own gravy at home and since my god daughter is veggie, it's got no sausage in it =(

but mushroom gravy is still great. when she is not eating with us and none of my friends who don't eat pork are joining for brunch, i make a great batch of biscuits and sausage gravy. yummmmmmmmmmmmm.

Draugnar gets props for eating shit on a shingle. It was a staple in my house when I was growing up. Except my parents called it "poop on the scoop" instead, us being small kids and all... And I'm practically salivating thinking about how awesome biscuits and gravy are. Thanks for making me hungry, everyone!

Mmm...biscuits and gravy...

Who were likes Cracker Barrel? That place is great. :)

i actually don't think cracker barrel is that great. i much prefer homemade biscuits and gravy, or if it must be out, somewhere local and small, where i know they were made with much love. like florida avenue grill or the late colorado kitchen, here in dc.

I do enjoy Cracker Barrel, but prefer their dinner menu with pinto beans over cornbread (with onions, pickle relish, and ketchup), a big ol' slice of ham, and greens with vinegar (pickly vinegar is my favorite). I also like their country fried steak with mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, and discuits with honey. God, I have to go get lunch now and all I have is some frozen mini pizzas. That's going to be so disappointing...

I think my dad used to call SOS "creamed foreskin" Regardless of the less than appetizing name and general unhealthiness - it is a damn good breakfast. Biscuits and Gravy too.

Always preferred Bob Evans to Cracker Barrel.

+1 to Djbent - Colorado Kitchen was A+
