Please Read Mods!!
I am planning on organising a tournament at my school, and to make the games have the right people in the right positions, I am asking any mod who might be willing to help me to reply or PM me. All I would be asking is that the mod would take a list of countries with which user should be each, and switch the people to their correct country's. Thank you all :)

I just joined a game, second one to join, and a few minutes later the first player left. The game hasn't even started. I hope it's not some emergency, like illness or something. Besides that, why would anyone do that?

Are there any WebDip players in North Carolina? I'm trying to get a face to face game together, and if we're reasonably close to each other - I think it could work!

Pro-Rape activist cancels worldwide meetings because his followers don't feel safe
Lol. Actual rapist and pro-rape activist "Roosh V." (real name Daryush R. Apist) has cancelled a planned series of worldwide meetings for his followers because, following a public outcry in the cities where the meetings were to be held, he felt his fans might not be safe.

Use webDiplomacy as adjudicator for offline game?
Hi!
Is there a way to use webDiplomacy as an adjudicator? I'm going to play a live boardgame, but would like to track the moves online to make sure we're applying all rules correctly.

However, if you want to write up the bug report for the cross issue on the GitHub issue tracker, you're welcome to. It should at least be on the todo list, even if it is difficult.

Spyman: the old forum posts were unfortunately removed because the site was having scaling issues- the forum wasn't designed to work at the scale that it had grown to, and the rest of the site was sometimes falling over because of it.

I'm also working on an upgraded forum that won't have this issue. As you can see, there's quite a bit to do- the dev team is hiring :)

A_Tin_Can: We really talked about this before? Oh, you're talking about the stand-off X's which show up sometimes where they're not supposed to. I totally forgot about that. I guess that this is somewhat related.

I pointed out something else in that thread, which did affect the text list of orders. Take a look at the thread again when you have a moment. According to Kestas' post in that thread, the errors I noticed are independent of the adjudicator.

Does this mode also prevent press during pauses?
VirtualBob (222 D)

While we are on the topic of "press" I would love to see a public press option that matches the old PBM process. Press in the form (more or less) of "press releases" can be entered during a phase and all such press is published at the end of the phase. The idea being to use press as part of a future strategy rather than trying to publicly negotiate in the current phase. It makes for interesting game play and (often) interesting "story lines" in the press.

Since we got onto the topic of Convoy paradoxes, how does webdip resolve them all? I only ask since I read this article and am curious now.

A_Tin_Can (2234 D)

Webdip resolves the convoy paradoxes the way that the DATC recommends (which is common). You can see the choices made at:

How about an option, that if enabled by the person setting up the game, allowed spectators to post either in the global or a separate spectators chat box ?
MajorMitchell (1874 D)

But spectators cannot be anonymous
A_Tin_Can (2234 D)
04 Feb 16 UTC
We've thought about having a peanut gallery mode where spectators can post (but the posts can't be seen by the players until after the game). It'd be challenging to make that fit with CDs and the metagaming rules, though - since spectators might be able to take over positions after reading the press.

It's an interesting idea, and something worth thinking about.

A_Tin_Can: Right, as Peregrine Falcon pointed out, the quirk I noticed way back in 2009 was related to a convoy paradox. But Kestas seemed to think that the errors with regard to reporting whether orders failed were a bigger issue than just convoys. He started off his reply with "The way the system detects whether orders were successful is a bit shoddy", so it does sound like fixing this might require a lot of work. Anyway, I'm just trying to be helpful and give you stuff to work on since I know you've accomplished a lot.

@ATC: there is another press change/variant i'd like to see.

Allow players send a single messages which goes to multiple people. Like CC-ing in emails. Also allow a BCC: so you can be a little under-handed and secretly include a fourth party in you conversations...

It think this is standard in email for a reason, and it is like have a three person conversation in face-2-face games. (Or more than 3)

And i think the limitations of webdips current messaging system are technological in nature, not an advantage to gameplay.
