I can't tell countries units apart

I can see when a vessel is in the water it has a small box shaded in the color of the country but I don't see that on the armies, so as a result I can't tell who is who once the game gets going....I am new, am I missing something?

Issue with supply centers

Hey, I moved into a supply center territory in the spring then moved out in the fall but for some reason I didn't keep control of that territory. No other power moved in. I was wondering what gives?

Issue with supply centers

Hey, I moved into a supply center territory in the spring then moved out in the fall but for some reason I didn't keep control of that territory. No other power moved in. I was wondering what gives?

A new, tiny tax haven, where taxes are entirely voluntary and currency type is up to the individual, apparently now exists in Europe. Thoughts?

I am in withdrawl

I am not joining any new games so I can put forth about 10 games at once in a purr-fect storm of cat games. I still have 8 playing, and I'm feeling the effects of not joining new ones. All I can do is play live games. HELP *twitch* *twitch* help...

I apologize for using my one and only account for this, but since the mods still haven't banned me I wasn't forced to create a second account to again complain about them not explaining why I haven't been banned.

I haven't been banned but the mods never told me why they didn't ban me. Admittedly I haven't asked them why they didn't ban me, but still... maybe the mods are overworked???

Caving/Spelunking

A reminder for Hidden Draw Vote games

Now that we have hidden draw vote games, I'd like to remind everyone that using pause or cancel to signal that you'd like to draw - especially in gunboat games - is against the rules. From the site rules page at http://webdiplomacy.net/rules.php :

"Using the Pause or Cancel buttons as signals to other players is violating the press rules. For example, voting pause to signal the desire for a smaller draw is not allowed. If you need a pause in a gunboat game contact the moderators at [email protected] and explain why."

Don't make us hide pause and cancel votes too. That would be a shame.

We've already seen this in a few games already and the mod team will be checking live games over the next several days just to make sure the voting system isn't being abused in the absence of a draw vote. I don't expect this to be much of an issue among more experienced players, but please take note regardless.

I just realized ATC could do anything unilaterally because he could just change code like hold the site hostage. he could literally just ban all the admins and mods. then do as he wishes....... are the recent developments a ploy to garner the public's supprt before his regime takes over in a massive coup? where will we stand when this happens? I know I stand by ATC the rightful god of our land and the supreme being of all webdippers. You sir are the ONLY being capable of guiding this community to heavenly ascension.

ATC, since, unless I missed it, you didn't mention me yourself... Is this a good place to claim some credit for the new hidden votes feature? I mean... I did write the initial code for it. I can see that you have made a number of significant improvements on it since, but still... IIRC it was my idea to add this feature in the first place and I delivered a working version of it which you seem to have worked off, or at least been inspired by.

If you want to encourage more people to work on the code, you might want to at least give them some credit when they do.

Oscar, I'm *pretty* sure you're joking, but just in case you're not, please shoot me a PM.

Proper code attribution is VERY important to me. If you look through the recent commits you'll see I've taken care to attribute the cherry picked features from vDip correctly, and the parts of reliability rating that Kestas worked on but didn't commit before I picked it up are correctly attributed. I definitely didn't see a code submission on this- but if you're submitting code that I'm not aware of I definitely want to know about it.

I think its more akin to your mom getting remarried. Your dad was pretty cool at first, gave you a shiny new Diplomacy website, but then he and mom grew apart and eventually he started forgetting your birthday and missing Christmas. Mom went out and got a new boyfriend who was young and cool and hip, what with his spaced out save and ready buttons, and you like him a lot even though he might have silenced you a few times when you make some personal threats or tried to go door to door selling passports and artwork.

Woah. I'm really sorry I didn't know about that. And I can see why you brought it up- very similar design. It would have saved me the work. I don't see a pull request- did you make one?

Feel free to grab anything off the "soon" milestone if you'd like to contribute. I promise we give proper attribution, always.

Don't worry about it. I can see that it wasn't intentional on your part and I don't mind yassem calling me a +1 whore simply for asking for credit where it is due.

I don't recall making a pull request at the time, so I probably didn't. kestas said on the developers forum that he would patch it in. I probably left it at that.

The old dev forum was shut down by the time I started working on the code, so I didn't think to look there for outstanding change requests. Poor form on my part.

We're using the GitHub issue tracker now- much cleaner. Even then, there are some issues that still need to be written up (eg mod messages to global not triggering the new message notification). I'd love to have you helping out if you have the time.

What?

I'm on my phone, and a lot of symbols are acting wonky. There isn't a star to show threads I've commented in, the two locked threads on the front page show checkmarks instead of locks, the bronze donators are marked by locks, and mods are marked by bronze circles. Am I the only one seeing this?

Mods Overworked

Maybe the solution is just adding more mods, so they can more adequately handle the requests, and ultimately ban absolutely everyone. That seems to be the endgame! Bigger government!!!!!!
