Given the Republicans opposition to gun reform laws and the way their Politicians pose with guns in electioneering advertising, I hope all participants are attending well armed with military assault weapons and automatic weapons with large volume magazines... a mass gunfight on the convention floor would display their love of guns as part of US culture

They used to be interesting enough to watch that they ran 3 hours a night. I quit after watching the first night. The highlight on CBS was the clip from the Clinton interview.

What's funny is on CBS show Brain Dead the Republican grass root group has a website with links to bomb making to kill Democrats. The next week at the real Republican convention on the second night they are calling to have Clinton tried and hung. Reality is weirder than fiction.

Pence made a good speech. RNC has put on a very good show. Gone a way towards convincing me.

THAT, my friends, will be the biggest shitshow on earth. It'll be less of a debate and more Trump and Clinton trying to make asses of each other.

She probably would have to do national ones to seem like she's staying relevant.

She would probably expect to look better against Trump than against Sanders during the debate, so she expects debates to be less of a risk in going for the general.

Wait, you mean all she cares about is how good she looks? I thought politicians cared about broadcasting their views and potential policy decisions so that the public can make a wise, informed choice to better the country going forward.

I've been a bit busy to pay any real attention to the RNC, but I will probably look for a transcript of Pence's speech.

Normally I'd say they're being ridiculous, but Hillary Clinton is probably the most corrupt presidential candidate we've had in a long time. I'm not surprised how much they hate her, and how much a lot of people hate her.

Not to mention she's dishonest.

She's like the caricature of a politician, and so Americans are more naturally inclined to hate her, because such a caricature does not invoke a positive image.

Actually, Clinton is pretty ready to hit the button to start war with Iran.

Halls should have said Saudi Arabia but all of those issues are broader US government issues, not Hillary issues.

Her issues are that she panders for votes and once she wins she will revert back to herself - a foreign policy hawk and corrupted, corporate object constantly on the auction block to the highest bidder. She is completely typical of a Republican that is only a Democrat because the GOP is way further right than they need to be. I don't get why the Dems like that kind of candidate so much but this is the second time the status quo people in the Democratic Party have shoved her down our throats.

Nah Hillary is way worse than Trump/Pence.

Trump and Pence will be less effective but I'm not voting for either of them because a binary choice is like no choice at all. They might as well just have a "not Trump" option instead of Hillary because that's what most Hillary voters actually want.

The Hillary corruption thing is so fucking overblown. She's a normal politician, and she's not nearly far enough to the left on the issues I care about, and she's a war hawk, so I don't exactly love her, but to call Trump less corrupt when he's out there bribing people with campaign donations to stop looking into the fraud in his private business endeavors is ridiculous.

If you tend to lean to the right, listen to Chaqa. Gary Johnson is crazy. Donald Trump is crazy. The Republican party right now is going backwards on civil rights issues, it refuses to acknowledge that non-whites have contributed to civilization, and it's attempting to put a businessman who repeatedly fails and is clearly unstable at both its head and the country's. Hillary is pretty fucking centrist, which is pretty fucking conservative in this country. You could do a whole lot worse.

If you're left leaning and refusing to vote out of pride, you're the worst. There's a reason all the people saying this are white guys, and it's not just that Bernie attracted white males disproportionately in the first place. A refusal to vote comes from a place of privilege. If you're a white guy and Trump wins, the country goes to shit a little bit, but you're mostly fine. If you're a woman, say goodbye to that one abortion clinic still open in your state. If you're black, say goodbye to any hope of progress on police violence or any other racism you face. If you're brown, say goodbye to America. Maybe you don't like Hillary, but she's not going to spend her time in office actively trying to ruin the lives of everyone who isn't you, so think about them and take one for the fucking team.
