Seems that everyone in the God QT thought I shouldn't have claimed. So I'll explain why I did:

I was pretty certain wjessop was scum. I was therefore feeling pretty strongly that I was a likely NK-target, and that y2k was the other one who might die. I also figured that if I claimed and took myself off the table as a lynch target, it'd throw wjessop. I didn't expect him to kill Yoyo, but by demanding it, I put him in a tough position - because if he NK'd (which, yes, was optimal), after I demanded Yoyo's head, I think I could've convinced town to lynch Yoyo first instead of me, and that would've made wjessop autoscum as both y2k and Warden were essentially clear after ghug's lynch. So I felt that I was getting a draw at minimum there; because I felt that I could manipulate wjessop into making the kill. I was hoping he would kill Warden, as he was the more obvious town (though killing Yoyo would've been even better, but I doubted he'd do that). It worked out as I expected it to.

As was said further down in the game; play the players, not the game. I knew what I was doing there.

Agree HR is MVP, whilst not everyone agrees with his final tactics just being in the mix at game end is an achievement in itself for 3rd party. Vash being cop and no kill on d1 when two bounties were on block must've hurt and he recovered well.

Congrats to Capt and ND for GMing an interesting game. My only suggestion is for any 3rd party to be awarded win if he is still alive at the end. This will set up a scenerio where players have to choose who wins and could lead to some horse trading and broken promises which could be good.

One more left field suggestion. How about d1 ties are decided by number of Mafia on each candidate. So if 2 Mafia are on candidate A and only 1 on candidate B, candidate A gets lynched. This could lead to frantic vote swapping as town might want a tie to narrow down numbers of Mafia on train.

Did it in the God QT, but Congrats HR. You did deserve the win.

@HR: claiming was wrong because there was a very obvious mafia move and that was the no kill. There was also no reason at all to believe your claim that you had no shot as you can hold your shot. Still, I agree with the play the players and if you believed that wjessop would screw up the game after the claim then kudos to you. I am still shocked that wjessop chose to ignore WD's clear winning strategy. Particularly when y2k was so solidly considering wj as town.

Game should had played out as no kill, HR lynch (there is no way in a 3 1 1 scenario you can talk your way out, everybody wants to win, not draw and the chances of a townie mislynch in that situation were 75%, and that would had meant draw or loss for town, while a BH kill gives a guaranteed 50-50 chance of winning to the town), wjessop NK WD, and final day would had been y2k Yoyo and wjessop. Everything points towards a Yoyo death in that situation. That is why nobody liked the claim at night. Day claiming under certain circumstances would had been necessary, but you chose to claim too early for sure and should had lost/draw because of it. it was only because a crazy set of circumstances and a technicality that it somehow worked out. Your odds at winning/drawing without the claim were far stronger.

Chaqa (and this is true of a lot of people too), you need to get better at convincing. Having good reads doesn't do you all that much good if one mafia sweet-talker can get the town to lynch you.

how do you fix being too convincing for stuff that's wrong? just work on not being wrong?

Opening your eyes and seeing the situation for what it is.

Just people open to what people have to say. Saying things like "I made an analysis so I am 99.9% right, and there's nothing you can say to convince me otherwise" is utterly terrible play. Please be a little openminded next time and don't tunnel. Tunnelling help sometimes, but not during the late game.

@y2k, being wrong is just what happens. Embrace it and move on. And whatever you do, don't argue the way you did against me once you figured it out. You should have had me much faster than you did once you knew.

The stuff about you being disingenuous and not responding to points was all true. If you had approached me like you approached, say, thd, I think you could have gotten me lynched quicker.

I guess that's true. You're capable of continuing that fight though, and we were around way more than anyone else, so it wouldn't have hurt the town to just argue back and forth a lot. Instead you brought up things that were small and inconsequential and basically dropped every point I rebutted. My being lynched had more to do with you convincing Warden that you were town than that I was mafia.

@y2k: when you know someone is mafia you can always stop arguing directly and instead talk to others to convince them that someone is scum. You win nothing by arguing with the likes of ghug/wjessop in a 1v1 scenario.

i was just getting incredibly exhausted having spent so much of the game defending myself. your incessant questions just kept me tired, as i expected you thought was happening and rolled with it. there's a reason i waited until late in D6 to get loud about the my thoughts for the lynch, in particular not lynching wjessop, because i just couldn't keep it up for the entire phase, i was drained.

@guak, I disagree. I think both are important. Scumminess often becomes apparent through direct interaction.

guak i was trying to do that, i started to not focus on ghug but on the thoughts others were sharing, and i was getting a lot of "well i think you're likely scum" and was having trouble getting anywhere good that way
