Did Cameron do this on purpose?
http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/jun/28/cameron-eu-juncker-defeat-britain-exit

His foreign policy is a total shambles but maybe he did this on purpose to accelerate the Brexit. It takes great strategic planning to bungle something this badly.

Could someone explain to me how to get the derivative of:
(3x^2+6x)/(2x^3+2)^5
So [(3x^2+6x)/(2x^3+2)^5]'=.....
I've missed quite some math classes lately and I need to know how to solve this type of thing (and other things but anyway) for a test tomorrow. I could probably figure it out myself eventually, but I just don't have the time and I have quite a bit more to go through.
Would someone be willing to show me the steps I should take?

Jesus for being a teaching genius abgemacht sure relies on wikipedia a lot.
Tru Ninja (1016 D(S))

Wolfram is a much better source, but I use wiki sometimes as well.

One would think that someone with such teaching credentials could, you know, explain it.
steephie22 (182 D(S))
29 Jun 14 UTC
I got it, thanks.
Forgot to mention that in the rush...

I understand abgemacht didn't want to type it out because it's a lot to type out and it's much less ... intuitive typing it rather than writing it.

I had to write it down before typing it myself.

Hey, Putin, how about you suck my dick. I gave steephie22 the two tricks he needed to solve the problem and offered to point out his error(s) if he showed me his work. Giving him the answer doesnt help anyone, least of all him, so kindly fuck off.
Putin33 (111 D)

Oh, looks like the maestro is mad. Doesn't like anybody questioning his teaching prowess. The irony is rich with that one.

What's it like being so miserable all the time?

Who is miserable? You're the one losing it. Such thin skin.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

One would have to be pretty miserable to wander from thread to thread finding the most mundane topics to criticize people for, which is pretty much your entire schtick here.

And, by the way, my teacher evals just came in yesterday and I did quite well, thank you very much : p
Putin33 (111 D)

Funny coming someone who has done the same thing to me from time immemorial, incessantly pointing out my foibles while ignoring the rancid, racist, spewage coming from everybody else.

" my teacher evals just came in yesterday and I did quite well"

Telling people to go to wikipedia instead of actually teaching will do that.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

Out of curiosity, why do you think my level of rigor for teaching is constant regardless of if I'm getting paid to teach a course or quickly answering a question online before getting groceries?
Putin33 (111 D)
29 Jun 14 UTC
So you're in it for the money? Oh wait I forgot you're one of the few teachers who get paid in Jos A Bank suits. Yeah I suppose I would be too.

And that excuse might work if you didn't spend inordinate amounts of time on this website and while virtually never bothering engage or explain your views with any seriousness or detail. Nope, pithy one-liners and linking to wikipedia are your "shtick".

Sorry, you don't impress me, hotstuff.

"Oh wait I forgot you're one of the few teachers who get paid in Jos A Bank suits."

Haha. OK that was pretty funny.

Wikipedia's articles on math tend to be particularly well written. Since I was in a rush, I figured those articles would be good enough until I or someone else could look at steephie22's work and help him further.

Being able to properly use MS Office is a very important skill yo have. We offer the course, but I don't teach it.

Yes indeed. The byzantine system of page numbering separate sections in Word took an hour to figure out. It's the most craptastic word processing system ever devised.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
29 Jun 14 UTC
Be that as it may, it's also the most popular and if you don't have it listed under the skills section of your resume, most automated filters with toss you out before a human even sees you.

Sure. Office is objectively the most used office suite and so it makes sense to teach it. That's all I'm saying. I'm not commenting on whether or not it *should* be the most used.

I am currently teaching myself to use VBA to improve my work on Excel. I've had programming courses before I college, but I dropped the major since being a triple major was a lot of work.

Now I teach math. So, steephie, FYI, if you need further help, lemme know.
Draugnar (0 DX)

If you know VB, you just need to learn the Office API and you'll know VBA.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

Wikipedia is an excellent source so long as you actually bother to use the references they give as well as the information they offer on their own page. I can't tell you how many times I've written papers where my primary source was a reference from Wikipedia.
Tru Ninja (1016 D(S))
29 Jun 14 UTC
I've enjoyed VBA so far. It's nice to not have to worry about the added code to create a drop down list or check box, etc.

@bo sox: Wikipedia has come a long way, I'll give it that. It's still not a viable source for scholarly articles, however.

Of Kurds and Caliphates
http://news.yahoo.com/netanyahu-calls-jordan-support-kurdish-autonomy-214846630.html The ISIS today declared itself to be an Islamic State...and we'll see how long that lasts, or where that goes...meanwhile, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyau called for support for the Jordanians (gee, I can't imagine why) and independence for Iraq's Kurds. Which is a more likely state to be recognized/come into being/"stick," a Kurdistan (if you will) or this ISIS caliphate? Thoughts?

B.J. Upton powers Braves past Phillies 3-2
Gerald Laird had two hits with a double and RBI for the Braves, who won for the sixth time in seven games though ending their road trip 8-3. Atlanta avenged a three-game sweep by Philadelphia June 16-18 at Turner Field.

Question for the mods:
I note we have some newish stats, like reliability rating. Ilove the idea of this. Is there some way we can set up games with a minimum reliability rating threshhold for participants? That would be a really nice way to filter out the people who join live games and then immediately quit the moment the game does not work out for them.

Coastal Movement
Normally, when two units make a move to each other's territories, it causes a bounce (Rhur moves to Munich while Munich moves to Rhur). However, would coasts be treated as different territories for fleets? For example, could a fleet in Spain (nc) move to MAO while another fleet in MAO moved to Spain (sc)? Same with Bulgarian coasts and Constantinople. Thanks in advance!

OK, sorry for the delay...and the continued delay--we'll start Midnight tonight. ORWELL! DICKENS! POE! TOLKIEN! Who will advance?

And a bonus question, just for schnicks and giggles--what's the first book you read after high school (or, if it was a while ago, the earliest book you can remember reading after high school?) Just curious to see what we get.
