The poop floor
As I was cleaning my litterbox, I discovered I sat in a pile of cat shit. I got it all over my shorts. When I checked if it did happen, I got it all over my hands. I've washed them 3 times and they still smell like cat shit.

Please advise.

french speaking replacement needed
as i will be absent for the next week and the last week of june and i'm only in one active game, i thought that i might as well look for a replacement player. it's a "speak french only" game though, so you'd have to understand at least a little bit of french.

Shootings and break-ins
So, my brother was there at the SPU school shooting today. Quite literally there... Scared the shit out of me when he wouldn't answer his freaking phone. Either way he's a-ok and that's what matters. My home also got broken into last night.... It's time to get a gun. For those that have one, suggestions?

In non winner-take-all game, can you solo with less than ALL the centers?
I want the solo win (and will have a majority of SCs soon). if I accept the draw once i get the majority, doesnt that mean i lose my solo? But do i really need to hold every single center to get the solo? How do you 'resign' ...so my opponents don't have to sit through the process that could take years?

Ethics of Diplomacy
So in general, I suppose most people here would say you can, and, possibly, should do anything within the rules to increase their chance at winning.

How about, for example, pretending to be terminal, though? Is that still fine?

I've been getting into the game a lot more recently and was wondering if there was any sort of listing of great or best games of Diplomacy. Games with great strategy, alliances, backstabs, drama, that kind of stuff.

In lue of that post your favorite or best games here. I'm up for reading some good stories.

Drinking healthy
I'm quite a balanced eater, so it's not exactly vital, but apart from water, it seems like almost every drink is unhealthy for your body or teeth in some way. Of course, I could just make sure I vary enough, and I do, but I still think it's good to know what's actually healthy rather than "not that bad".

I absolutely don't have to worry about too much calories, btw. I'm talking about the other stuff.

I know, but follow where I'm going. He argues that non-water drinks in moderation are OK, while water is just a straight-up necessity for our body so it must be better than these other drinks that can cause problems in excess. My point is that water can cause problems in excess and does need to be consumed in moderation as well. And on top of that, say I were to drink gallons upon gallons of slightly flavored water with a little bit of sodium in it, compared with gallons upon gallons of straight-up water. The latter pure water would probably cause issues quicker than the flavored water that won't cause hyponatremia as quickly due to the sodium intake. Point being, blanket statements like 'nothing is better than water' is simplistic and ignorant if you actually want to debate what's healthy for the human body and what isn't.

"But the majority of drinks we consume are majorly water, no? How can you emphatically say that adding anything to water to make it into a drink with a different name will make the drink worse for you than straight water? "

The other ingredients can bind the water such that your body can't absorb it. For instance, caffeine causes kidney stones by dehydrating you. Even though tea and coffee are mostly water, they contribute to the kidney stones that water helps prevent because the caffeine in them binds the water and prevents your body from using it.
Just a little puzzled how this became construed as an argument ===============>

It became an argument when you said something worth arguing against :)

Question, which is better for me to drink in a day: 8 glasses of water or 7 glasses and a cup of green tea?
@y2k

All I said was nothing was better than water.

Historically beer and wine were much better for you than water, because the process of making them would kill the germs that nobody knew were there. They just knew that wine wouldn't kill you as fast as water would.
Actually 8 glasses of water and a cup of English Breakfast w/ honey and half an half works for me :-)

You can drink 3 cups of coffee a day with impunity if you stay otherwise hydrated and don't have heart issues or other reasons caffeine will harm you. It does stain your teeth though (not it you drink it thru a straw Lol), and it is pretty well understood to give benefit to mental strength and recall especially in later years, and to hold back Alzheimer's.

However caffeine can exacerbate people with anxiety issues, so check yourself before you wreck yourself. And don't drink it after dark unless it's the weekend Lol.

If you drink it black, there are no calories or anything, just good flavor. If you have GI tract issues, get a blend with low acidity or go for cold brewed.

*to embarrassed bar patrons, and no one in particular* "BIN LADEN HAS WON! AAGGHGH HELP ME!!"

Dawkins' bloodcurdling screams gradually decrescendo into muted, British-accented whimpers, and eventually fade entirely. Cut to black.

[VOICE OF JAMES EARL JONES]: "History merely repeats itself - it has all been done before. Nothing under the sun is truly new. We don’t remember what happened in the past, and in future generations, no one will remember what we are doing now... So I set out to learn everything from wisdom to madness and folly. But I learned firsthand that pursuing all this is like chasing the wind. The greater my wisdom, the greater my grief. To increase knowledge only increases sorrow."

*bar patrons file out in silence*
