Then, of course, some of these same people just like to insult the people they are debating with. Liberal playbook: 1) state some absurd cultural Marxist theory. 2) Insult opponents. 3) Threaten to mute and leave thread.

It's really just kind of sad. I feel sorry for them.

What is kind of sad is that ever since Trump was elected your syntax and grammatical style of post on the forum has shifted to mirror his expressions.

Lmao, can you not like engage me personally, or do you have that much of an issue talking to women? ;) I admire your determination to throw in an accusation of "absurd cultural Marxist theory" into pretty much anything that involves any kind of liberal rational thought.
ND (879 D)
22 Nov 17 UTC
Well, I know you meant that as an (2) -see above for liberal playbook- but I take that as a compliment. Thank you. #MAGA

I am speaking generally. It's really a problem with group think so I think it applies pretty equally here.

Sexual Harrassment studies are at an absurd stage where even glancing at a woman is considered "Sexual Harrassment" - and they use categorisations like that to artificially inflate sexual abuse statistics, which actually HARMS the discussion of REAL sexual assault victims. I think the feminist rhetoric on this is supremely negative.

Wage gaps exist because of individual choice. Women who work as long as men in the same fields earn as much as their male counterparts, but women on the whole lean towards lower-paid professions like teaching or social care. There is an argument to be made that teachers and carers are underpaid, but that's not the sense in which most feminist activists use the term. Overcorrection of this perceived injustice has resulted in lower wages for men of younger generations. Once again the feminist rhetoric is profoundly harmful and negative.

Anybody can run for government in a democracy, and if women are not elected they have nobody to blame but themselves for not inspiring the voters.

If you do not make porn of yourself, it is hard for it to get released as "revenge". It seems like a problem that could easily solve itself.

Objectification is frankly absurd. Both men and women treat each other as objects. Men are seen as disposable workhorses and women are perceived as attractive. I don't see a way to stop that unless you want to castrate and blind all men, or stuff all women into niqab.

@ND - If you were to choose between chocolate ice cream, vanilla ice cream, or rainbow sherbet what would you choose?
CommanderByron (801 D(S))

@Croak- If you had to choose between a pet dog, a pet cat, or a pet turtle what would you choose.
CroakandDagger (718 D)
22 Nov 17 UTC
That's a difficult one. If I was living in a small flat i'd have to go with the cat, but if I had the garden for a pond I could see the turtle.

My sister is also an inspiration to me. She is deep in provincial politics and an honest worker full of integrity in a pit of vipers. The stories she tells us about the politics and nasty business going on behind the scenes is really something else and I'm so proud she's keeping her morals in it.

Also, she's working for the conservative party and still would throw up reading this thread.

It's interesting because there are so many Canadian Conservatives that I consider my friends, often very close friends. I have family members that vote Conservative. I disagree with a lot of them on politics, but I don't tend to let it impact my personal relationships. But you American Republicans are straight lunatics who I can not ever foresee getting along with. How do you even exist.
CommanderByron (801 D(S))
22 Nov 17 UTC
@Croak- that’s pretty solid. I took you for more of the dog type. I guess our preconceived notions of people could be wrong and we maybe shouldn’t base our opinions of them and how they should be treated on molds created for us by the system. :) what would you name your cat?

Lmao how you can be Canadian and list abortion as the main feminist issue. Abortion has been legal since 1969 and has been unlimited since R v Morgantaler in 1988.
CroakandDagger (718 D)

Probably something olde-timey.

Since i'm in a thread about inspirational women i'd be tempted to go for "Olga" after Olga of Kiev, who was pretty bad ass.

Olga seems nice. It’s cool that we can have a conversation about cats and their tentative names without insulting one another. You’d think that maybe we could bring this level of discourse into more tenuous conversations; such as women’s rights, or abortion. Ya know a respectful level of conversation. Maybe even source our arguments and be willing to respect people who disagree with us.

Mansplaining and manscaping
I heard people use the term mansplaining recently. It was negatively stigmatized but what does it even mean? Also I head people saying something about manscaping and I wondered if that was a type of yard work. Any input is appreciated.

What provisions are there in general for dealing with players who NMR on the first turn? Should we simply agree on a draw and try and rebuild the game with new players? Is there a way to bring in replacements?

New York is the best.
Now that I've gotten everybody's attention, would anybody be interested in playing a game of American Empire where everybody plays as the region that they are from? I think that might be kinda fun and could be a way to release some of this clearly geographical tension that is brewing in the forums.
I'd have to claim NY
