Search System
I suggest that Kestas can implement a searching system in phpDiplomacy, enabling us to search for players' names and game names, instead of using CTRL+F blindly everytime, hoping that you'll get the name you want in that page.

What do you guys think?

How long must your army/fleet occupy a SC for it to be yours before you can leave it and it still be yours. I think it's one turn but not sure.

That's it, Sicarius!
Kestas, I apologize in advance for this thread. But I think that the phpDiplomacy can spare one Forum slot for the sole purpose of shutting Sicarius up, once and for all. See below.

I didn't know you went to the University of Chicago, lulzworth. Mea culpa.

The cracks begin to show, dear diplomat1824. I still have hope you're not lying. That hope, however, is dying fast.
lulzworth (366 D)

I mean, I'm not a conservative myself but I recognize the value of being at one of the few places where they are still represented proportionately to their actual existence in the thinking world.

Come to think of it, thats a pretty left-wing value.

Maybe that question is missing some information. What about the shape of the wing?
Pandarsenic (1485 D)

Maybe diplomat is a little liar trying to gain legitimacy through a false claim that has backfired on him horrifically?
diplomat1824 (0 DX)
25 Feb 09 UTC
Well, think about it! I can't think of an aircraft with that much thrust. Also, an aircraft with that amount of thrust would not be able to travel at 450 ft/sec. It's a trick question. Oh, and I will be in contact with NASA over that example.
ioan (356 D)
25 Feb 09 UTC
From wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thrust : "The GE90-115B engines fitted on the Boeing 777-300ER, recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the "World's Most Powerful Commercial Jet Engine," have a tested thrust of 569 kN (127,900 lbf)."

the numbers dont matter if its just a case of subsituting them into an equation, and if you do a little flying on the side why do u need a cpl when a ppl would do just fine and cost a hell of a lot less in time and money, your a liar plain and simple
ioan (356 D)
25 Feb 09 UTC
Which also travels at 900km/h which is roughly 820 ft/sec.
Chrispminis (916 D)
25 Feb 09 UTC
diplomat, those are actually pretty feasible numbers. I didn't really specify the type of aircraft, but you can always suspend your disbelief... Even still, if you just glanced at the wiki page for drag equation you'd see the question I gave you has all the information needed. And aaaa is right. I shamelessly stole it after a cursory search for aerodynamics problems. =)

Invictus, McGill is actually pretty conservative as far as Canadian universities go. Of course that's probably still frighteningly liberal for you. I know that most profs, particularly in economics and political science are much more right leaning than the students, who are as liberal as you'd expect on any college campus. The economic theories we're taught are neoclassical, which is hardly socialist, and it's entirely to be expected since neoclassical is the dominant modern economic view.

Haha, but surely on that logic we're being kind Onar?
lulzworth (366 D)

Yeah, we're on one hand satisfying his need to be paid attention to, and on the other gaining the pleasure of trashing his massive self-serving lies.

It works for everyone.

though i saw the same similarities in him and still do... maybe he will grow up too
Thucydides (864 D(B))

his dad being my uncle... one reason i don't talk about diplomacy with him anymore.. kinda awkward at family gatherings. As I recall it was your crass comments that prompted him to disallow my cousin's access. Then again he is only 13.
Lynius (100 D)

As to the drag coefficient, I must say that diplomat has a point with unrealistic numbers. The thrust, speed, etc. are all fine (which is what diplomat was criticizing), but the real problem is the wing area - the link ioan provided descibes an aircraft with a wing area of 4605 sq.ft., as opposed to the airplane in the problem, which has less than 37 sq.ft. (perhaps it was meant to be 5300 sq.ft. rather than 5300 sq.in.)

@ trim101. I do a little COMMERCIAL flying on the side, like, you know, for profit. I would also like to point out that there are three main types of flying licenses in America (I'm aware there's others, thank you)

1. Private Pilot License (For-fun pilots)
2. Commercial Pilot License (Pilots who want to make money, also includes bush pilots)
3. Airline Transport Pilot License (Airline pilots)

Major ratings:
IFR rate: can fly on instruments in IFC
Multi-engine rate: can fly aircraft with multiple engines.

Ah, my mistake Lynius. I made up the area. =)
lulzworth (366 D)
26 Feb 09 UTC
Diplomat, if I come up with the money would you fly me on a joyride? Where can I call or email to arrange to use your services? Will it cost extra to have you fly to me first then to wherever I want to go?
trim101 (363 D)
26 Feb 09 UTC
you want me to believe you had both the time and the money to get a doctorette (sp) and a cpl: bollocks!the way your talking isn't "pilot speak" its obvious

Invictus (240 D)
26 Feb 09 UTC
I really can't tell if he's making it up or not.
diplomat1824 (0 DX)
26 Feb 09 UTC
Okay, look.

I was an Air Force ROTC. They paid for my BA. I paid for my MA. I started teaching on the side at a university, and they gave me a paid sabbatical to go get my Ph.D. They also covered the tuition costs, because their aerodynamics professor was retiring and they needed a new one.

You just gotta love it when you predict somebody's every move.
Just the feeling of knowing that your inside their head, and putting in your orders, knowing the outcome.

Then, going back to see the outcome and seeing just how badly you just decimated them, and all your assumptions were correct.
