Floodgates Pt. 2:
We continue our search on page 11. Here the only mentions of Flood are from the brain. He includes Flood in a group of people he considers questionable. The people named seem to have been lurky for the most part but have posted up to that point.
In response to teacon's vote on HR, brainbomb says that HR's absence is not scummier than the absences of Vash, Moscow, Flood, or xorxes.
Then on the next page we have a post by Flood about peterlund:
"Is peterlund just using his newbie powers to fool us all?"
"Accordingly, his PR claim could be an attempt at fishing out the real inventor.
However, my first thought is that he seems genuine. He did call me a townie earlier so maybe I'm a bit biased towards viewing him as town in return... I am aware that he may be playing me/us though. Thoughts anyone?"
He's casting suspicion onto peterlund while also hedging it. Strange when he just a couple pages earlier suggest we go easy on the first few posts by newbies.
A little more context to that, on page 13 we see a little bit of a bus:
"I read Ikaneko as a bit scummy. This may be just a result of his newbishness or just because he is only taking the game seriously "to an extent". Or he is scum."
However, he also suggests AGAINST lynching Ika. This is almost a full reversal on his earlier position of lower scrutiny on newbs.
Flood also moves his vote over to brainbomb, calling it a placeholder but also calling Double B his top scum read, suggesting he's leading fake investigations and jumping all over the place, hiding in plain sight. And brainbomb calls Flood's shit about the investigations claim. Shortly after, brain claims Flood as off this game, though he suggests he wouldn't vote for him at this point. To which, Flood suggests brain is being defensive.
When DDaniel suggests we put forward a focused and organized effort to find scum, Flood says putting pressure on people is a good thing. (HAHAHAHA, actually hilarious considering the spat he and brain had a second ago was because of the pressure brain was putting on everything.)
DDaniel agrees, but he says brainbomb "doesn't give anyone time to actually analyze the results he is showing hate everywhere."
Ogion defends Double B from Floodgates calling him defensive, as he points to Double B being the top wagon. Floodgates responds to this saying his brainbomb vote is a placeholder.
In response to ??? Floodgates says:
“And yes, Mafia get a QuickTopic thread to talk about things like items, only during the night though. I don't think we can read into brainbombs earlier reminder of the items as a scum thing.”
When RHK says it’s a bad idea to vote for a PR claim who hasn’t been counter-claimed, Flood says nobody would risk a counterclaim, and that his actions could be a scum PR fish scheme.
The brain asks ND’s opinion on a number of things, including Floodgates.
Bo asks everyone voting for the brain (including Floodgates) why they’re voting the way they are. He also says that he never buddied up to Floodgates, an accusation he took from brainbomb.
On page 15 Floodgates answers bo’s question about the brainbomb vote, saying it’s simply a placeholder. He also takes the time to ask Chaqa, brainbomb, and bo why they’re voting for Vash and if they think he’s really lurking. However, brainy points out Chaqa doesn’t fit in that group cause he’s a brain voter instead of a Vash voter.
Then we have a big post from bo which includes how many posts everyone had made up to that point, and Floodgates calls it a “nice post.” To be fair, there was some analysis on there.
He then claims to have forgotten Maniac is playing, and then he suggests Maniac is usually active and asks Moscow if he thinks the lurky-ness is due to different role. Bo tells Floodgates brainbomb has difficulty convincing him of much because he just scans through the relevant material.
Page 16 Moscow suggests (to Floodgates) Maniac is a hiding scum, and bo says the vote on Floodgates (from Maniac) comes from someone who doesn’t even know what’s going on.
Page 17 Floodgates puts a vote on HR to see if he jumps into conversation the way Vash did (even though he wasn’t one of the people who voted for Vash). In response, brainbomb asks why he moved off the brain’s wagon, as that broke the tie and put Vash on the chopping block. Double B takes this further, pointing out that Floodgates once called the bomb his top scum read. Floodgates says there’s still plenty of time to pressure people, and goes on to say there may be scum between brainbomb, peterlund, and DammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmDaniel “unless Pete and Dan are just both misguided.”
Floodgates points out an interaction between Chaqa and brain, where Chaqa says the RHK wagon could be a counter to brain or Vash, and brainbomb asked for an explanation. Floodgates uses it to say he believes Chaqa is town and brainbomb is scum because WIFOM and hiding in plain sight. He later goes on to suggest RHK may be town and Vashta may be scum.
Moscow townreads Floodgates, and brainbomb says Floodgates and peter are very stubborn in the way they scumread him (Double B).
Page 18, Floodgates regarding the item and how peter should play:
“@Moscow - But that forces the mafia to NK him which still isn't good for us. Wouldn't it be better if we can WIFOM them into leaving him, thinking we will lynch him on D2 if he is still alive? Then we might have a chance to get more items out of it.”
He also says something about the speed of Ogion’s vote, defending him. Floodgates also tells Ogion that the idea that bo, Moscow, and RHK all being scum is far-fetched, saying so much as believing bo and Moscow are town. Ogion agrees it’s pretty far-fetched, and he wasn’t serious about it.
Double B says Floodgates seems really pissed this game. When I ask Double B about his change of position on me, Floodgates says brainbomb’s being drunk the night before is a “convenient excuse.”
Page 20, Floodgates makes the assertion that looking into player performance in past games isn’t really beneficial:
“Vashta could just be uber busy. Maniac could be busy too. Prado could be trying a different strategy. Any of them could be intentionally changing their playstyle in order to throw the rest of you off the scent. I'd prefer if we stick to what we can see in this game.”
Then we have a reads list from the Flood. He suggests brain as town (despite how aggressive he’s been to Double B), but also hedges that. He’s leaning town on peterlund, but hedges that too because the PR claim could be a gambit. Ogion gives him a town vibe, and he simply says bo is town. He suggests Vash, DDaniel, Moscow, and teacon are scum, and everyone else is null.
Moscow asks why Floodgates has a vote on HR if it’s just a placeholder, and Floodgates says it’s a placeholder before quickly unvoting.
When bo says Flood’s reads are shit, Flood asks how he reads them, before bo gives his critique of those sorts of really hedgy badly reasoned reads. Floodgates says he appreciates the critique.
Then we see teacon explain his vote on HR, and he specifically asks Floodgates what doesn’t sit right with him about his line of reasoning, referring to Floodgates’ read on teacon. Interesting to note considering Floodgates had just taken his vote off of HR. Floodgates says he disagrees with teacon’s line of reasoning on voting for HR. He goes further in saying:
“Your reasoning of minimising deaths/imprisonments is bad (and I read scummy). If that were the case then we would all just novote or force a tie.”
Floodgates claims to have differentiated his HR vote from that of teacon, and bo disagrees.
Flood further attempts to justify himself to bo, saying:
“teacon7 also seems to think that it is actually a good idea to vote for HR to save him from a modkill. That is false logic and the reason I think he seems scummy.”
Just after, teacon again tries to explain to Floodgates his logic about going after HR as follows:
“We've got a 20% ish chance of hitting scum if we pick at random. That's not pessimism, that's just playing the odds. Also: ***anchoring*** on HR for 6-7 hours did generate some reactions, which I count as information gathered. Do you have better lynch option than HR? Who? Why?”
When teacon claims bo overexplained why going after HR is dumb, Floodgates says:
“@teacon7 - Bo perhaps explained more than he needed to. I think his point and reasoning made sense though so I can excuse him. It's not like he was spamming or waffling on about nothing.”
This is up through page 20, and concludes part 2. This is draining.
