Actually, I don't give a shit about YJ - he's openly demonstrated to this community what a lying sack of shit and intellectual coward he is. He chased me around and threw his insults, made his threads, which culminated in his grand debate challenge....and since then, he has not only refused to respond to me in discussion threads, but he has enlisted the aid of others to answer me for him. At best, he is a fraud and a coward...so actually it has worked out quite wonderfully.

Krellin, if you are serious, please email us at [email protected]. We will consider the case. We aren't going to just ban YJ though. We would ask him to leave you alone or stop PMing you, whatever the case may be. And in return, you would also have to do the same for him. Although, I think that you probably enjoy the back and forth with YJ. If you do ask us to intervene, he can't possibly debate with you throughout the forum, can he? :)

And to answer jimgov's question, this is the first time we have done something like this. We don't have a certain percentage in mind. We will see what the survey says and go from there. Based on the community survey, more internal debate among the mods and in consultation with Kestas, we will decide and announce the decision in a separate thread.

As goldie said and jmo and I have alluded to, this is going to be our test run. This is going to help us create a formal policy. As the site grows and the mods collectively have more experience and history to rely on, we are trying to create more policies that will help us in moderating the site.

The survey will be closed after it's been available for 48-72 hours.

Also, as i have stated many times in the past, I am against muting, I am against morons like YJ saying people should be banished from the forums for various reasons, etc. I like the whole "free speech" thing, ya know.

Well I was going to sit this one out due to my ambivalence on the matter, but clearly it will not be decided until I give my opinion. I don't like cheaters, but I also don't like not accepting the fact that someone can do something for fun or because they don't really care about the site as much as they care about their own good time - even at the expense of people who do take it seriously, becoming one of those who do take it seriously and want to continue on the legitimate path. So there's my ambivalence, and why I let this conversation go on for so long without voicing my all important opinion ;-)

The reason I love the forum is debate, controversy and drama. I try my best to contribute to all 3, because it makes the waiting between phases and responses from allies and enemies bearable. For that reason, I vote "ABSOLUTELY YES!!!" To letting Special K back on.

This will give me, personally, hours of entertainment seeing Draugnar try to harass someone who is his intellectual superior and will be able to handle himself just fine without crying to the mods about it. And wasn't this site developed for my personal entertainment, after all? (thanks kestas)

now to the threats and the threats of further threatening ... I, like Draug, don't take kindly to threats either. But unlike Draug my response isn't to threaten to make more threats (i think that was literally a meta threat, BTW. If you threaten me, be warned I will threaten you back ... Fucking priceless)

But I digress ...(full disclosure, I have been playing the drinking game while reading this) having said that ... Shit hold on while I drink again ... Ok, I'm back ... My response to threats is to call them. If someone tells me "if you do or don't do this, then you'll be sorry" my response is to do it or don't do it and say "make me sorry, bitch"

@philcore... Remember our recent repeated downtime? I was testing my latest bot on the site right after Kestas finished with the initial upgrade. It did a wonderful job.

That's quite the statement to make. I'm sure you're not actually admitting to taking down the site, which is not only a bannable offense, but also a crime in the United States, where our servers reside.

To me it is pretty simple: If the mods think he can be kept from cheating, then I absolutely think he should be allowed back. If he is, he will immediately be one of the top 20 players on the site (at least from my experience with him), and that trumps just about anything for me. The best thing about this site (which is why he wants to come back) is the quality of play and Agent K would increase that.

Cheating sure is an awesome way to get attention. Agent K is being turned into a legend.

So, uclabb, just because Banned Agent K has a bit of skill, you could not care less about any wrongs he committed in the past, regardless of how heinous, regardless of how many infractions, regardless of the length of time he committed such acts, regardless of if he had been banned previously, regardless of anything else?

I think there are plenty of other players who are as good as Agent K (or better) who don't cheat. In the grand scheme of one things what does one extra skilled player matter?

In fact it is a hard to gauge Agent K's true talent because his GR would be inflated by some of the games he won due to cheating.

I vote yes on certain conditions

1. He can not play in Anon games (I think anyone who does not want to play with a former cheater should have that option, which would be denied in anon)

2. He can not be in the GR list

3. 60+% of the community says yes

That being said (drink), I do think the mods have a handle on this should it be decided to let him back. My greater worry is about letting others in... what amount of others have approached you about this?

@ spyman: Not only did Agent K cheat his way into those high GR/GFDT games, but he bumped deserving players from joining them.

Not once in AK's statement does he show an ounce of remorse for fucking over so many members of the community.

Agent K had incredible stats. I remember commenting in a thread about Agent K'sstats in about October 2010, at the time he had a 45% win ratio and an 87% win/draw ratio. No wonder he had a high GR.

Yet if you look solely at his standard wta games (not speed games) his performance in definitely not in the same league as the likes of Mad Marx, djbent, or Dave Bishop. Mad Marx plays the best regularly and wins against the best regularly. But I don't think even MM's stats are as impressive as Agent K's appear on paper.

To say Agent K is not a strong player is just plain wrong (Sargmacher on the other hand, not so much, but no need to start that up). Agent K is a very good player. But you are right, no one is in the same league as Mad Marx and davebishop, basically by definition.

Thanks for the clarification, uclabb, and even though I don't share your opinion on the matter, I very much respect and appreciate your willingness to share such an extreme point of view, makes a guy pause and think about it a bit more seriously and question his own view...

How do you know Agent K is a strong player, since, apparently, his strength was his ability to *cheat*?

krellin, he played in multiple high point games and fared pretty well, the games I'm referring too did not have any of his other accounts. This is not to say that he didn't cheat a lot, but when he didn't he was a pretty good player. (I looked over every game he and his friends were ever in while reviewing this case)

That being said, I don't really think his strength as a player matters. It's more of do people believe he is sincere, and apparently do you have faith in the mod team to keep him from cheating.

patizcool, he would be allowed to play anon games, but they would be reviewed by a moderator and we would ensure that there was absolutely no cheating in those games. The moderators have no control over the ghostrating list, that is completely up to Alderian. He would be starting with a new account though (probably Agent J), and he would start out in the ghostratings and points just like any new player. That being said, I request you stop trying to kill our alcoholics.

I agree with uclabb completely. I think the most important to thing is to develop an active and very skilled user base. Agent K is a very good player who would probably be very active, so I think the benefit outweighs any harm. Thanks to the mods for putting in the extra work and I hope this becomes a precedent!
