Search System
I suggest that Kestas can implement a searching system in phpDiplomacy, enabling us to search for players' names and game names, instead of using CTRL+F blindly everytime, hoping that you'll get the name you want in that page.

What do you guys think?

Invictus + 6

It takes balls (or ovaries, if so) to stick up for a shameless ultra-conservative like me. Just because I'm usually wrong doesn't mean I'm wrong all the time.
diplomat1824 (0 DX)

Also, the title of my thesis was:

"Aerodynamics and Airplanes"

"It takes balls (or ovaries, if so)..."

Oh my, that's such a strange thing to say. Thanks, though.

Again, I believe you, but "Aerodynamics and Airplanes" seems like a very broad title for a dissertation. Not that I know too much about them, if I make it to a J.D. I don't even think theses are required.
Chrispminis (916 D)
25 Feb 09 UTC
diplomat, I'm still highly skeptical. This should be relatively trivial for you to do:

Suppose an aircraft is cruising at 450 ft/sec with a thrust of 120,000 pounds. If the air density is 0.00048 slugs/cu. ft. and the total wing area is 5300sq.in., then what is the drag coefficient? Show relevant calculations. =)

Perhaps someone with more than a high school knowledge of aerodynamics could also chip in to this little quiz. This doesn't require you to divulge any personal information. I still think he's just one of those 15 year old virgins who live in their mom's basement. =)
lulzworth (366 D)
25 Feb 09 UTC
Aerodynamics and Airplanes is not the name of any dissertation, though Invictus gives you the benefit of the doubt that is FAR too broad a title for any dissertation.

On the off-chance you do have a PhD (and by your teaching claim, a tenured or tenure-track job), I do agree that it makes your behavior even more absurd. Somebody with the intelligence to earn a graduate degree does not, at least normally, spend time spamming forums and getting into petty disputes with anonymous strangers.

So I don't buy it, but I'll look into the existence of such a dissertation.
lulzworth (366 D)
25 Feb 09 UTC
No, absolutely not. Unless it hasn't been published anywhere there is no such dissertation in the last 30 years.
lulzworth (366 D)
25 Feb 09 UTC
Also, what human being holds a doctorate in a scientific field and also finds Rush Limbaugh listenable? Even if you held his political views, you'd think the level of education / critical thinking / rhetorical sophistication required to earn such a degree would make his show unlistenable.
Draugnar (0 DX)
25 Feb 09 UTC
Now he'll claim to be 58 so he got his PhD 31 years ago. Wait and see.
lulzworth (366 D)
25 Feb 09 UTC
Yeah.

Sorry to spam the thread. But take a look at diplomat's profile and tell me if ANY COLLEGE-LEVEL PROFESSOR ANYWHERE would put this up as information about themselves on a website:

Hey, everybody! Welcome to my homepage!

My Xbox LIVE Gamertag is LoneSlyFox.

I am currently addicted to: Fallout 3

I have been addicted to: Mirror's Edge, Halo 3, NCAA Football '09, and Tom Clancy's EndWar (in that order)
Lord Alex (169 D)
25 Feb 09 UTC
That is fairly suspicious.
And i disagree lulz, a human being with a doctorate in a scientific field would listen to "Comedian" Rush Limbaugh. Why?
To laugh at his pathetic propaganda and ridiculous statements
Hereward77 (930 D)
25 Feb 09 UTC
Forgive me if I'm being stupid here...but isn't the correct spelling 'Aeroplane'? If the two are different or mean different things then fair enough, 'Airplane' looks a bit strange to me.
Draugnar (0 DX)
25 Feb 09 UTC
In the US it's 'Airplane'.
Hereward77 (930 D)
25 Feb 09 UTC
Ah that would explain it. Thanks.
lulzworth (366 D)
25 Feb 09 UTC
Lord Alex - An intelligent person looking for amusement in that kind of absurdity might at least turn to someone like Sean Hannity or Ann Coulter, who despite being similarly vile (if your political inclinations or such) and despite having a similar disrespect for the intelligence of their audiences, are at least capable of constructing and English sentence without going red-faced and flailing around for those good old pain killers.
Invictus (240 D)
25 Feb 09 UTC
Hm, looking at the info that is terribly, terribly suspicious.

That gets me thinking. What college professor is conservative? Where are they? My political science teacher straight up told us he was a socialist, and my Calculus professor (OK, lecturer), made a joke about Reaganomics.

I hope diplomat's telling the truth, because I'd like to think that there are at least islands of the right in academia.
Invictus (240 D)
25 Feb 09 UTC
I happen to think Rush Limbaugh is far superior to those harpies Hannity and Colter, but that's just me. At least he seems like a decent guy.
lulzworth (366 D)
25 Feb 09 UTC
There are certainly conservatives in academia. My school is in near-constant warfare between the conservatives in the Economics and Business departments against the liberals in the Sociology and Political Science departments.

I'm pretty sure Rush isn't a 'decent' guy, at least by conservative moral standards, given his multiple divorces, drug problems, and inconsistent patriotism.
lulzworth (366 D)
25 Feb 09 UTC
I think diplomat's problem here is that, seeing as how he is likely not even in undergraduate college (much less a tenured professor), he doesn't quite understand that holding such ranks possess a good deal of verifiable information and tendencies that aren't easy to bullshit, even in ambiguity.

That's not enough information to calculate the drag coeff.

Also, I saw that someone believes that I am a 15-year old virgin living in his mom's basement.

I'm not a hobo. Shouldn't most American 15-year-olds live with family? And, also, I didn't lose my virginity until my wedding night =D

Conservative economists at a university? Where do you go? I love my econ professors, but it's neo-Keynesian city down here.

I'm not going to turn this thread into a crusade for Rush Limbaugh, but he isn't an idiot. He often has good things to say, though having a life I rarely listen to talk radio in the middle of the day, usually only in the summer when I'm driving. Criticisms invariably come from those who never listen to him and hear bits out of context.

Now to diplomat1824, please fess up if you did lie. All you have to do is say you made it up and then stop using the diplomat1824 account. Wait a week and start a new one. No one will ever know.

But please, please resolve this mess one way or the other.
Lord Alex (169 D)

First of all, Diplofoo, too much info.
Sorry if i offended you with, lulz, with my Limbaugh comment. I am a democrat and dont care for any of those three listed off. Especially Hannity, who just spouts off fake news or misinterprets it on purpose.

I wonder why Colmes left?
Bob Ilyani (100 D)
25 Feb 09 UTC
diplofool, you say you have about 15 friends? That made me laugh, because I can't imagine anyone who would be friends with someone like you.
lulzworth (366 D)
25 Feb 09 UTC
Lord Alex - I'm not sure why he left, but I did see Colmes at O'Hare recently and it was the lamest celebrity sighting ever.

Invictus - University of Chicago. See: Friedman, Milton. In addition, our law faculty varies inversely with the given administration. During the Bush years, half the conservative faculty left for government legal work, now with Obama, all the liberals have been recruited and conservativism has retaken the majority.

Yeah... listen diplomat, I have to tell you:

I used to be a lot like you (on a different forum) when I was about what I suspect is your age, 13-15. I was inflammatory and incendiary in my comments on purpose. I did things, whether or not I realized it, to get attention. Eventually the attention got out of hand. In a fit of irrationality, I claimed I was a professor to try to bolster my position. They started asking me similar questions and the truth was found... it was embarassing, to say the least, to admit that I was actually a freshman in high school.

I can't help but think you'll mature, because a lot of what you say sounds very familiar to me. From the parts of the questionairre you filled out that I take to be accurate, and from your other statements, you seem a lot like I once was. If only I knew where in the US you lived (South, North, East Coast/West Coast, Midwest, Plains, Rockies... something) then I could maybe predict a little bit better if you will share a fate similar to mine. Just know that I empathize with you.

Lack of effort! By googling the question, I was able to find
http://www.grc.nasa.gov/WWW/K-12/BGP/Sue/drag_equation_ans.htm
This site has that exact problem, with an answer. Of course, Chrisp did change the wings' surface area, but it shouldn't be that hard to substitute in the new value. I came up with something like 0.0028, although I wouldn't put much trust in my math.
lulzworth (366 D)
25 Feb 09 UTC
You'd think that with a PhD in aerodynamics specifically diplomat would at least be able to explain WHY there's not enough information.

You just gotta love it when you predict somebody's every move.
Just the feeling of knowing that your inside their head, and putting in your orders, knowing the outcome.

Then, going back to see the outcome and seeing just how badly you just decimated them, and all your assumptions were correct.
