0 game messages? Maybe that's because I haven't finished a game yet? I don't know how that works but I make a point to talk to everyone in the game. Most at the very start even if they're no where near me. Basically what am saying is a post constantly. I know what the game is called.

@Centurian - since C-K hasn't finished a game, the game messages reads 0. you'll see that is the case with any player who has yet to finish a game. from C-K's participation in this thread i'm inclined to think C-K is talking quite a bit in games as well.

I thought that had to be the reason. It's the diplomacy part that makes this game so much fun in my oppinion. I'm curious to learn what the masters ethics are. I'm meeting all kinds. Personally, I don't think staight out lying is very challenging. Though some do it. I like when I'm dealing with a player who plays with words are tries to get you to slip plans or intentions without giving anything. That's fun. That's the player that when ready I write down the agreement and we both say I agree to these conditions. I'm someone will break that with me eventually too but so far no. How does the community see these things? I can't wait to find out.

i think C-K might be a better candidate than Goldeye, but i'll message him all the same. but C-K you need to reduce your number of current games.

Oh? Too many? Why is that exactly? Now there a little high because I was getting killed in some of my first games but Now I'm doing better. A few games will end soon and I'm not joining anymore for a while as the ones I'll have left are interesting.

Just to clarify, with all of the discussion of various roles, this is still true for all of the rest of us watching, right?

@C-K - generally speaking, if you re in so many games, it is difficult to commit to proper diplomacy. glad to hear that you are reducing the number. we want students in School of War who are dedicating a good amount of their diplomacy time to the School of War game.

The thing about having alot of games is some people get complacent if they are losing one. If they are down to three centres, their attention is usually held by the games where they have 8, so they don't put in the diplomatic time to break up whatever alliance is attacking them and make a come back. Its making big come backs that seperates the boys from the men. The in game vet Ivo_Ivanov is the master of that particular art. I have, in the past, attacked people with too many games because I wager they will lie down and take it.

I think we should try having just one game this time around. We tried four last time and I think that was clearly too many. Let's try one - if it turns out to be two few then we can go with 2 in the Spring.

I cannot commit to playing in the game as I am simply too busy to put in a satisfactory diplomatic effort. However, I am not too busy to be a commentator. I enjoyed it immensely last time around and would like to do it again. I don't think I want to be a consultant/mentor whatever we're calling it because I think it will take more time than I have to do properly.

I'm kind of exaggerating how much I do that. Mostly, as I will explain, i choose victims through diplomacy and unit movement. Not necessarily in that order.

Actually I'm fairly certain that mentor will be pretty easy to do Jacob.

oh. That does make sense. 1st lesson learned. I will play my number of games down then. Also it can get confusing if you aren't careful and don't read evryones chats before moving.

Not that I don't think you should be a commentator Jacob. I dunno about this Pete U character, I never read his stuff. He is highly rated elsewhere or something?

Yes, there is potential for confusion as well. I'm in two games with Italy right now both with Austrian allies and strong Russia's and strong Englands, so I get them mixed up occasionally.

@NWA - are you going to be finishing games any time soon? you will be a good candidate then, and can probably join the next. to ensure that, i suggest you follow the commentary and pipe up with questions about how the game goes or the commentary

@Centurian - I've been involved in SoW since it started over on facebook phpdip, in an attempt to get less CD and a better standard of play - it's why I now play here :), but my Ghostrating here is much lower than my FB one (it was around 250 IIRC)

I've played in a game there as a student, commentated on two, and also 'mentored' in an 'every player has a mentor' version (which I dislike as a variant)

And I commentated on SoW IV here (and it's all on the blog) alongside chrispminis - whether that was useful or not, I don't know.

If there are enough others wanted to commentate SoW V, I'll happily stand aside,a nd save my (limited) insight for SoW VI

@NWA - yes, commentary will be a new thread. we have a requirement that students have finished at least on game on the site.
