I was caught off guard just as much as you all have. I really didn't ask for any of this to be honest...

I don't think yoyo was even a mod when we started the world cup, so you can't blame him for the fuzzy TD situation.

I'm not, im saying Goldie should have stuck to td'ing only or had somebody like Yoyo do it all with Goldie only a player.

In that case, I'm not sure which idiots approved a tournament where the TD was participating, but I hope they've learned their lesson.

You can see the desire to play in a tournament, and thus being willing to organize it...

Please don't restart the gunboat games. I don't want to have to go through another 2 day long strategy session with my team telling me why I shouldn't put all my resources into taking Switzerland.

As a point of clarification, I did specifically say in my PM's to the team captains that all future game questions should be directed to Yoyoyozo.

We instituted a policy about a week into the tournament banning TDs from playing in their own tournaments in the future.

It's clear that this world cup hasn't gone too smoothly, and we're going to do our best to make sure that this doesn't happen in the future, but right now all we can really do is make the most of what we've got. In the end, it'll come down to the fact that VI, Marx, Balki, awkward, and I are simply better than the rest of you at diplomacy, and that's all that will really matter.

Greetings! And welcome to the Finals of the World Cup!

As captain, you are receiving this message with links and passwords to all of the Finals games. To better preserve anonymity in these games, you may switch the assignments of players and sub in/out players as needed before the Finals start. Just remember, that the same player must play both gunboats! To better preserve anonymity as well, both gunboats will be going at the same time instead of being launched consecutively, as they were in the Group Stage. If you have any questions at this point in time, do not hesitate to ask me or Yoyoyozo, who will be the effective TD for this stage of the tournament. Once the games start, of course, you should only go to him :)

I can't say I particularly care about Anon status - I felt the mid tournie rule change to it was pretty terrible anyway. Restarting games is a ridiculously OTT reaction.

I would balk at restarting the games too.

And HR, I can tell you that between the time I sent that message out and the start of the games, I received no PMs.

I just want to say that I'm glad that goldfinger0303 started up the World Cup again before the end of 2016 (and glad the mods allowed it). The World Cup is supposed to be held every two years, but the old TD for the World Cup left the website years ago. That absence, plus the fact that there was no 2014 World Cup, makes it pretty clear that the World Cup would have ceased to exist had it not been for goldfinger0303's initiative.

By the way, I would have won the 2012 World Cup had their been strict anonymity at the time. If I can't retroactively win the 2012 trophy, you all don't deserve strict anonymity. So there. ;-)
