May I make one thing clear.. I have only just read that post by wpfieps..why ? Because I had muted him quite some time ago. After reading jmo's post on the bottom of page four, I just un~muted wpfieps, and then looked back through the thread and found it.
I had previously assumed that Demon Overlord was giving ND a well deserved blast ( but imho, a poorly expressed blast )
I think that what wpfieps posted was deliberately provocative, deliberately sexist, and he deserves to be silenced and condemned for what he posted.
And now I will mute him again.

Actually, Steven C, if that wasn't the person's opinion, they wouldn't think its funny at all. it's only funny if you think it is a parody that reflects something true. "Humor" is incredibly telling about the underlying attitudes.

And MM, I am done with the violence and injustice wrought by racists and sexists. There is zero excuse for people to be treated without dignity or respect because of their gender or race. Not one person should have to deal with that bullshit even one more day. Frankly, I'd be happy seeing these guys get shot by cops at random or fired for being the wrong color. Well Ogion, we agree that sexism and racism are abhorrent, disgusting, inexcusable etc. We obviously disagree about what are, and are not acceptable ways of responding.
Using wpfieps as an example, imho, he deserves to be silenced by the Almighty Mods, and if they decided because he might be a repeat offender, or for other reasons to ban him, then I would support that decision.
But for us to publicly express in the forum a desire that he suffer from an act of violence in the real world is, imho unnaceptable. For us to make threats of violence against him in the Forum is, imho unnaceptable.
Embracing evil to fight evil is not, imho, a valid course of action.
Appalling behaviour from appalling individuals is inexcusable, but it is how those types of people behave. However I believe the response should be firm, strong but "civilised".
Take Charles Manson as another example. I am glad that he was not executed, but that instead he was imprisoned for life. He was subjected to the full rigour of the law, but was allowed legal representation to " defend himself ". Books could, and have been written about the inadequacies of the Police investigation. There may have been flaws in the trial process. But considered in the context of a comparison to a Lynch mob hanging without a trial, then I hold the view that in the case of Charles Manson.." Justice was served..WELL" by the way he was treated & punished.

Another example Ogion are the "rules of engagement" that Nations impose on their military forces. Extrapolating the "We're not playing nice anymore, because they don't play within accepted standards" proposition to it's "logical conclusion" in the context of the use of military force by Nations .eans we throw out the Geneva Convention, rules of engagement, and allow genocide and a miscellany of horrors.
We are not animals, we are not brutal savages, we are human beings with consciences, and some would suggest souls as well.

Additionally, as homo sapiens, we have the most highly evolved, highest order functioning & cognitive organic brains of all species on this planet..Let's not sell ourselves collectively short on that great gift when we deal with those members of our species who are clearly not using their brains at all well.

It took me a while to figure that out Demon Overlord, but I did get there..yes..Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela should be the exemplars we are inspired by, imho. As well as women like Florence Nightingale, Dipbro Brainbomb's Mum, your mum Demon Overlord, and many other women.

I think both of you need to actually read MLK and Mandela. Neither were shy about condemning injustice. I despise Malcom X frankly.

Categorically condemning injustice doesn't mean you have to hate people, tempting though it is. Those who want to white wash MLK as a "go along to get along" guy have the wrong end of it.

Both we adamant that one not hate those oppressing other while being rather absolutist in their opposition to injustice.

Condemnation in unequivocal terms is a statement that we will wait not one minute later. And there is no reason to compromise. I also see no reason to sugar coat the statements and dogwhistle politics, but rather seek to expose them to the harsh light of truth

That isn't to say that I am perfect in my intention not to hate those who promote such ideas, because at time my frustration centtainly boils over. However, if you look, I'm mostly calling out wrong in unequivocal terms. No equivocating in the face of wrong or euphemisms in the face of evil. Torture is torture, not "enhanced interrogation. Slavery is slavery, not "pro-life". Economic savagery is savagery and exploitation is exploitation, not "economic liberty," not "free markets" not "trickle on" economics.


Call it for what it is

It is a condemnation of the liberal left. As Daniel Patrick Moynihan pointed out those liberal policies that systematically destroyed the family structure to where the state supplants the father. Check out the finding your roots that had Bryant Gumbel on it. You will see the common connection that the three subjects had strong fathers in their nuclear family.

Capt Brad is not an inspiring man. He fed off taxpayer dollars and all he had to do was sail around a few places peelin potatoes and probably dropping seismic charges on endangered animals.
