What do people do outside of webDip?
Do people actually have lives outside of this game? What do people actually pursue with their existence? Who has the worst job? All of these burning questions, just waiting to be answered.

Trump pulls out
It appears the days where America cared about polar bears, rising sea levels, emissions, and trying to be a leader in changing our dying planet.... has all come to an end. RIP Earth.

Eturnage, you're engaged in trying to condemn billions to death and destroy half of life on earth. Why should anyone have any patience for that? That's not "dissent" from an "ideology". (Scientific fact isn't "ideology" since it's not about ideas but verifiable reality). It is reality denying active harm on a massive scale. Is also don't let holocaust denial and Nazism off with a free pass as "brave dissenters" but treat them as the active threat they are. Frankly, Nazis have a far stronger claim to being dissenters from an ideology, since my ideas that genocide and racism are bad as ideological assumptions. Climate change is a fact, like gravity. Arguing that gravity doesn't exist makes you an idiot, not a dissenter. Pushing people off buildings because you don't believe in gravity makes you a murderer, not a dissenter.

These people get huge subsidies to buy satillite tv, swimming pools. Look up Hyannis Nebraska sometime. The people take their kids to school in helicopters."

i refer you back to "People getting rich off of the work of others is what the US is all about." (but i suspect we both wrote our post at the same time)

Fair enough. I admit I may just be ill-informed of the need for farm subsidy. I generally just note that if you ask what items can be budgetarily removed republicans will always get rid of food stamps but fight hard for their rural constituent farmers. It always felt like an attempt to protect rural voters more than city voters

@brainbomb earth tilt is regarded by some as a significant influence. Thought to be caused by draining our ground water as part of stupid chem ag system I've been complaining about. We can restore the ecosystems if we try a different model. This is the most important environmental issue of our day. That's why I come on here and accept being called stupid and crazy by the greenhouse gasses cultists.
Ogion (3882 D)
01 Jun 17 UTC
And Obama actually had programs to support local farming and protections against agricultural chemicals. But of course that was action, not overheated rhetoric, so Stein voters got to convince themselves that Trump and Clinton were the same. One thing we know about Stein voters: they see absolutely no problem with White Supremacy.
Ogion (3882 D)

It's not trolling when you have actual facts behind you. You conservatives are just so divorced from reality you don't even know what facts are anymore. Everything is just feel good relativism and fake news to you people

Obama did do some good things in his Department of Agriculture regarding sustainable agriculture. However, he also backed Monsanto and Monstanto's chief lawyer headed up the agency under his regime. The Democrat party was captured by the midwest farm subsidies. They did nothing to alter the destructive system we now have deployed and expanded for the past 100 years.

@Ogion

Your blanket labels are worthless and a waste of time.

If you're mad at people who didn't vote for Clinton, you're essentially pissed that people weren't complacent in her fairly obvious corruption. I'm not interested in defending Trump or his policies, but as a Stein voter (who DOESN'T condone White Supremacy), there's a lot of reasons people didn't vote for Clinton that has nothing to do with her gender and everything to do with her record.
orathaic (1009 D(B))

Earth tilting, not seen as mainstream science, i'm pretty sure you've got nothing to backup those claims.

But i will call bullshit on that part. And claim authority as a physicist. You tilt the earth by any of the means discussed above.

To tilt the earth by any amount, you hve to apply a torque. Conservation of angular moment will resist the torque, in a closed system you've nothing to push against.

I would imagine you need rockets... Maybe you could get some solar pressure by reflecting more energy from one part of the earth... But it is complicated.

Here's some advice: just because a source agrees with you (eg: agri businesses don't care about causing human suffering) doesn't mean their theories (eg: agri business pumping ground water affects the earth's tilt) is plausible.
Ogion (3882 D)
01 Jun 17 UTC
Yikes. Another physicist. Why are physicists so often completely scientifically illiterate about anything but their own fields? Hint: tilt can't really cause warming

No, you may be right. My understanding was the farming in the US was much bigger (large industrial scale farms), and that EU farm subsidies were about 20x times larger... But i may very off on those figures.
orathaic (1009 D(B))
01 Jun 17 UTC
@Ogion, i wasn't disputing thT. I was disputing whether pumping water can cause tilting.

That second issue is an interesting one.

If the earth was tilted by 90 degrees, so one of the poles pointed towards the sun, then it would definitely cause climate changes.
Ogion (3882 D)
01 Jun 17 UTC
Don't tell me what you believe myxisMe. Show me what you do and I'll tell you what you believe. Stein voters clearly put some kind of vague "corruption" (which was never conclusively shown although I agree with the concern) ahead of the urgent need to keep white supremacists and misogynists out of the White House. Clearly, by your actions you show that you really aren't that perturbed by the outcome you worked for
Ogion (3882 D)
01 Jun 17 UTC
Warming orthaic. It would shift climate, but could cause warming because under your scenario radiation balance is unchanged
orathaic (1009 D(B))
01 Jun 17 UTC
I concur, i never proposed it would cause warming. Like i said, i'm not disputing that.

Though i do think that getting into an extreme tilt like that could have a warming or cooling effect. The side facing the sun will have a higher temperature, and thus give off more radiation... not sure that would be exactly balanced by the very low temperature on the cold side... But regardless. Not possible by the mechanism Eturnage proposed.

This may be a little off topic from the direction this thread has gone, but I do have a question about this subject that I believe should be addressed before we go jumping off to the next Trump atrocity.

Why would Vlad order Donald to withdraw from the Paris Accord? The Russians are still in, they obviously care more about polar bears than Americans do. What's up?
brainbomb (290 D)
01 Jun 17 UTC
well Jimmy let me put it to you this way. when 192 countries sign an accord its significant.

Brave Donald Trump can proudly tell America "we stand with Nicaragua, and Syria - this controlling emissions crap is bad for American workers"

BB, you ignored my question & talk about 191 countries who agreed to go ahead with their own coal mining & pollution, while the US cripples its own economy & sends boat loads of money to the 191 to help them along when they decide they will do something. Such a deal.

But back to my question, what's in this for Putin and Russia? We all agree he is calling the shots, right?

The wobble has dramatically altered its direction since 2000. Scientists speculate that the cause is a deficit of water in Eurasia, the Indian subcontinent and the Caspian Sea area. This drought is caused by massive depletion of the aquifers there. It does not take as much of a loss at the 45 degree line as the poles where we have also had massive decreases in the volume due to ice melting. Greenhouse gasses do not contribute to this negative impact on our planet's climate change. This data was verified by GRACE, a joint NASA mission with the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ), in partnership with the University of Texas at Austin.

Jimmy, most of he 191 countries don't even mne coal and are taking drastic measures. I live in The Netherlands (Hol on the Diplomacy map, a misnomer), and for us global warming and rising sea levels are a serious threat. The USA have just decided to tell the people in our country, but also in the Maldives, Bangla Desh and others that making money is more important than trying to stop our countries from flooding.
We hear the selfishness and will remember.
ksako8 (1433 D)
01 Jun 17 UTC
Eturnage: you can spin whatever you like and invent causes whereever you like: 98% of climate scientists agree that greenhouse gasses emitted by human activity contribute to global warming and rising sea levels. And even if you are not sure: wouldn't it be better to work with all the other countries in the world to err on the safe side? Help us to reduce emissions (USA are the number two emitter of green house gasses) in stead of telling the world that they can be flooded and the USA don't care as long as they can make more money.
Ogion (3882 D)

Peer reviewed papers, eturnage? not inforwars nonsense.

We can eliminate your theory right away since warming got underway well over 100 years ago.

ksako, don't expect most Americans to be well informed on these issues. They still think Jesus rode a dinosaur into Jerusalem.. Not kidding

The final victor will be decided by eleven of the players they voted out, and this is their opportunity to sway votes their way. Welcome to Final Tribal.
