That's a shame. I think the tournament has been very well organised and seems to have been a great success so far.

The seventh player was told not to join it until tomorrow. The game had 5 days left so I'm not sure why it was cancelled.

Sorry if I sound a bit testy. Just tanked a combinatorics midterm (I think) and lost about two grand USD in the latest Bitcoin scandal. It wasn't exactly liquid, but could have been had I not thrown all my chips in with MtGox.

I was happy to get a survive that game. I felt like I was on my heels after S01, and stayed there for the whole game, with EG and occasionally I all coming after my centers for much of the game. GG all!

@gramilaj - Great job defending yourself, Russia bouncing me out of Nwy on first year forced to work with Germany, and I thought I can kill you and go for a 3-way E/G/T, but you did some really good moves and when it´s clear that Turkey is going to try for a solo I just give up and was lucky you understand the message and close the line with us.

@thatwasawkward - Great cooperation mate, one of the best I have in a gunboat in a long while.

@urallLESBlANS - Great job, there was a point where I start to fear you will solo.

I second everything both of you said. gramilaj, you were definitely on your heels the whole game, but you held your ground. I was also very, very glad to see you forgiving myself and rdrivera for our constant attacks enough to join us in forming the stalemate line. rdrivera, I appreciate and share the sentiment. I don't think I've ever had an England/Germany alliance work so well in a gunboat before either. We might have done better if urallLESBIANS hadn't eradicated the entire southeast portion of the board so quickly :D

I'll update the ranks after someone makes 4-A, all these people complaining about it getting cancelled and no one wants to make it!

What's the point of giving me an email address that you NEVER check? It's 2011 for God's sake.

Game 1-A finished. Great win by AlexNesta (Germany). Can't say I'm thrilled that mrlentz (England) handed Germany that win, but there was very little I could do but be doomed it seems. Very funny Draw vote by England in the end when it was just about all over!

Anyway, I tried all I could to get each side to stab the other, but alas, I was doomed to wait and see who would win in the end, and frankly, I'm glad it was Germany in a way, as England really didn't seem to have the desire to solo this game.

Any advice for a gunboat game where you are the prey of a firm 2 power alliance? I tried making the alliance uneven with no luck. Should I have just retreated and let them fight it out amongst themselves for lack of any opposition?

Also, what's the deal with 3-B still being paused? I haven't read back though this thread. What was the reason for this and when can we expect an unpause?

@texasdeluxe: I really don't think you could have done any better than you did; by retreating all the way you would have just handed the game to me, as I was much closer than England to the juicy Balkan SCs. My alliance with England was solid (I have never been in a 15-year alliance in a gunboat before!!!) and honestly, I feel really bad about having stabbed England for the win... The stab was not driven by the desire to solo as much as by my paranoia that England would not draw after we got to 17-17...
