Its still pretty safe to say that whites hold power over blacks still in the USA (I am from the USA, not sure about you). We are heading in the right direction, but after the oppresion that blacks went through, there is an economic gap that they must overcome. Why do you think there are more black people in prison than in college? So it is safe to say that whites hold the power especially from an economical standpoint.

Good point Ice, though Hispanics are in a similar situation to blacks. Asians, however, are well off financially mostly due to the fact that many come here with high levels of education, especially in areas that American's seem to hate (math, engineering etc.)

I don't think America is dominated by any one race at all, certain aspects of it are for sure but in general I don't think you can actually pick a race that dominates. Using exactly what you just said Wydend, in the engineering field and mathematical fields whites are not the dominate at all. America is unbalanced this is true but no one race dominates it.

As far as this topic being criminal... in some jurisdictions it would be. Hate speech in a public place is not something that is accepted everywhere. People are commonly considered to have a right to be in the public square (or store or bank or whatever) without having to hear it. Obviously I understand that the internet is a grey area... and that "jokes" are another grey area...

@doofman: Yes it is a generalization, but it has some truth to it. Most Asian immigrants first came here with higher educations and thus had higher incomes. Regardless of why, it is fact that they are off much better financially than blacks in America.

@Ice: True, no one race may dominate it, but white people have much more power than other races financially, especially blacks. There will always be a group with more power.

Fine. Again you caught me. I don't really know how to explain it without making a generalization. Asian's for the most part are better off than blacks in the USA at the present time though (economically speaking)

Finally, four pages later and you're willing to walk away. Just because Wikipedia defines hate speech as that doesn't mean that it's the right one. Check the U.S. official definition if you really want one. I've always viewed hate speech more as saying something intended to offend.

Now before you say "I don't give a shit if people make jokes about me," go a bit further. Walk a few moons in another's shoes. Not only do your ancestors have a history of mistreatment by whites, of horrible terrible crimes in which your ancestors were treated like animals, not only that, but you actually experience real disrespect day in and day out because you are black. You can tell when people see you that you are being treated differently. And then you overhear this white guy with a bunch of other white guys. He starts telling black jokes. The other guys laugh uproariously. The jokes get worse and worse, less and less true, and the laughter gets louder and louder. They are talking about YOU, you realize. They are getting a cheap laugh off of making YOU seem like trash. Absolute trash. And they think that the centuries of torture and slavery that happened are funny. Not really a serious subject.

Then you turn the corner, and they see you. Instantly the laughing stops. They act like they weren't doing anything. You look at them, and they look back awkwardly, not willing to continue in front of you.

So yeah. That's like what you're doing now. So just remember. The Golden Rule.

I'd like to say two things:

1 - Moderators are game moderators, not forum moderators. We're not here to say what can and can't be said here. There is, actually, no moderation in these forums, and for the time being, I personally don't think they'll be necesary in the forseeable future.

2 - Personally, I don't think stereotype based jokes are racist. It's only racism when you believe it to be true. I do, however understand that some people might be offended. My best advice to them is "don't read a thread called Prejudiced Jokes".

3 - I really liked the home prices joke. That was more of a hit on white people than black though.
