chat bug?
I hope this is the place to post
I'm using IE8 (at work, no choice to change)
many time when I am typing in the chat box (and just now in this box) the focus seems to jump to the browser window itself. This is mid-type, so ann the keys I press to type seem to get sent to the browser as shortcut commands.

I believe it's already been said, but just because you can't explain why these things exist or where they came from, does not mean that they magically appeared from nowhere because of "god". By the same token, it also doesn't mean that everything has to have a completely logical explanation to it.

In short, none of us know jack shit, so let's go debate something that we actually have a chance of, you know, debating:]

@ Bishop Simple the cell membrane interacting with a change in the enviroment caused the cell to act in a certain way. If that way was good it survived and transfered that trait to the next generation and a new sense was created. If not it died.

The cause of the big bang is still under study. One ideal that in a earler universe a quantum instability hyperexpanded. These quantium points of instability are poping in and out exsistance now and every where. Given enoff time it will happen again.
dave bishop (4694 D)

I've already mentioned that scientists can see proof of the energy of a vacuum, where electrons (energy) come from nothing.
Some think the big bang was a massive case of that happening.
But as its impossible to know what was before the big bang, I'm not sure we'll ever figure it out...
Darth (137 D)

Scientists are hypocrites all. If they say that they believe in the big bang or such then they are wrong for a very simple reason. There are TWO SCIENTIFIC LAWS that state Matter can neither be created nor destroyed and Energy can neither be created nor destroyed. IF this is such as Scientist must believe for they created the laws then how did all the energy and matter get created? Come on people this is basic science from Junior High. Something greater then the laws of the universe had to have created all the energy and matter. We call that greater power God. Stop arguing. Case Closed.
dave bishop (4694 D)
31 Dec 09 UTC
The two laws you state are on and the same.

But you raise a good point.
of course, you must answer "who created God?"
and there is the argument that laws *within* the universe do not apply the the universe as a whole, so it *could* have come from nothing.
Draugnar (0 DX)
31 Dec 09 UTC
@Darth
Actually the law is that the sum of matter and energy can neither be created or destroyed, however matter can be converted to energy and vice versa. Otherwise, nuclear weapons wouldn't work.

Please revisit basic physics at the high school level before spouting false statements, Darth.
ottovanbis (150 DX)

could have come from nothing, danger zone dave, danger zone. then i have some other basic questions for you. are we real? does time exist? is there such a thing as truth? careful how you answer these, you've already contradicted yourself a couple of times. scientists are not hyprocrits, darth...sigh. you don't understand the big bang theory either it seems. not all scientists accept the bbt that's why it's a THEORY!!!
Darth (137 D)
31 Dec 09 UTC
If you go along that line of thinking that everything had to be created then you will get an infinite series which is futile. It goes... Universe <---- God <----- Super God <----- Super Duper God <------ Ultra God <----- Super Ultra God <------ Super Duper Ultra God I think you get the point. Please excuse my random names I just was using that for lack of something better. Also, I'm using the definition of God meaning a higher supernatural power beyond the laws of the universe (or multiverses) that we live.
Is that why evolution is a theory? ;-)
Darth (137 D)
31 Dec 09 UTC
@ Draugnar

that still does not explain how energy or matter can be created. Yes I admit my science knowledge is limited but even so what you say is still a conversion and not a creation.
disclaimer

I don't have a dog in this fight. I don't particularly have a problem with evolution.
dave bishop (4694 D)
31 Dec 09 UTC
How have I contradicted myself? you keep saying things like that without evidence.
As I said otto and, the universe as a whole is *not* the same as things in the universe and the same rules may not apply. we simply don't know.
the universe must have an origin and I don't see you suggesting any better ideas.
ottovanbis (150 DX)
31 Dec 09 UTC
there was no creation people, science could be wrong here. i think the universe never began.
spyman (424 D(G))

"Come on people this is basic science from Junior High. Something greater then the laws of the universe had to have created all the energy and matter. We call that greater power God. Stop arguing. Case Closed."

With that historic post Darth ended centuries of debate. Around the world scientists realized that in fact God's existence could be proved and indeed had been proved.
This would become known as "Darths Law".
Draugnar (0 DX)
31 Dec 09 UTC
The big bang theory is a theory of how the universe expanded. It doesn't explain the creation of matter or energy. It isn't meant to.

Oh, and I believe in evolution AND God. I believe there are things we can't understand and aren't meant to understand. I believe all will be made clear in time, but that is in God's time, not our own.
ottovanbis (150 DX)
31 Dec 09 UTC
The fact is that evolution is faith just as much as creationism... just faith in scientists (you go on to talk of a conspiracy in the scientific world and then accept the truths of said conspiracy in the following)
There's not way the universe could have begun without creation of energy.
The energy of a vacuum shows electrons do appear from nothing momentarily in vacuums.

Darth (137 D)

@Spy

Stop being sarcastic. We all know that it can't stop further debate because the human race as Einstein put it has infinite stupidity. My statement did not prove it. It just put up the thought that science can NOT explain the creation of the universe if they at all follow their own self created laws.
Draugnar (0 DX)
31 Dec 09 UTC
One universe collapsed into a dense ball that went critical. We call that the big bang. Eventually this universe will slow down (entropy) and collapse back upon itself as well. When that happens, another critical mass will explode and a whole new universe will be created. God exists outside the universe and sets the rules that the universe abides by. Therefore, when you interpret "let there be light" it could be read as him speaking the equation for an explosion caused by critical mass collapsing under it's own gravity.
dave bishop (4694 D)

@otto
sorry if I've been misunderstood, I was just displaying an argument for creationism that I made in a debate, It is true though that we have faith in scientists, but I earlier said that I did have that faith.
So I do trust scientists.
I think your problem is that all your posts show decided views of yours that are un-changeable, I'm not the same. My views aren't concrete and I enjoy considering many opinions.
spyman (424 D(G))
31 Dec 09 UTC
"Something greater then the laws of the universe had to have created all the energy and matter. We call that greater power God."

Let's say that there is something beyond known physics. A yet undiscovered cause of the big bang - who says that "we call that greater power God"?
And when you say God, what exactly do you mean? Do you mean a Christian God? Or do you just mean something "unknown"?
Valkyrie (0 DX)
31 Dec 09 UTC
ok.so say there was a big bang. then who was the big bang-er? someone/something had to have caused the big bang to happen.....cause and effect, no?
Darth (137 D)

@Spy

"A being of supernatural powers or attributes, believed in and worshiped by a people."

Direct quote from a dictionary. Do with that as you will.
spyman (424 D(G))
31 Dec 09 UTC
How about a supernatural being that is not believed in or worshiped by people? An unknown supernatural being. Isn't that just as likely (or just as unlikely?
dave bishop (4694 D)
31 Dec 09 UTC
@Valkyrie
maybe cause and effect doesn't apply to the universe as a whole?
spyman (424 D(G))
31 Dec 09 UTC
Maybe there are events that don't have a cause.
For example what caused God?
Darth (137 D)
31 Dec 09 UTC
@Spy

While that is possible it is not very likely seeing as we have had hundreds if not thousands or even more cultures that have believe in a supernatural being but aren't very specific about it. For example, in Judaism, it is believed that God appeared to Abraham as one of the other gods of the time period and made a deal with Abraham to worship him and just him. Our religions are really just giving traits to this "unknown" supernatural being.
Eat LSD while living off the land; everything will make sense eventually.

@Darth - that dictionary needs a serious revision. Mind posting the publisher and year?

i'm playing as Germany in gameID=18134 and received the following from England: "sounds like a plan... wizard. who is this?" as if he expected to know me outside of webdip. To me this indicates that the user expects to know AT LEAST one other player in the game, which obviously puts me at a huge disadvantage. please take the appropriate steps to rectify this.
