ACA Premium Reimbursement
Today I was refunded a decent amount of last year's insurance premium through my company because our insurer didn't spend enough of their income from premiums on claims. What is going on here that some people are seeing their premiums double while some insurers literally don't have enough claims. Is it just happenstance that this provider only has healthy people? A civil, informed discussion would be appreciated, if at all possible.

Since there's so much rage about the American political situation, I thought I'd change it up a bit. Who do you think the next Australian PM will be?

Every F$&@ing Game Ruined!!!!
Every f$@&ing game ruined by NMR/CD's ... and then the D Bags who get the advantage won't cancel the game! Pathetic guys! You know who you are, and you're freakin' pathetic point grubbing thieves! You can't play win a straight up fight, so you resort to playing when you've got an unfair advantage.

Can we PLEASE create an "auto-cancle" feature so this stops happening?

Magic the gathering encourages children to practice Necromancy
Studies have shown that children who play Black decks tend to perform human sacrifice on animals. One child saw the art on the card goblin ski patrol and he began killing squirrels.

Extra Terrestial Influence
So I think most of the world is in agreement that the universe is so big that life almost definitely exists on other planets. That question is kind of boring though. The real question is, have aliens had contact with earth in the present or past.
The results are in, and the evidence points to a resounding yes!

Why is there such an epidemic of cheating? I've had several games be paused and irreparably damaged by cheating investigations. Can anyone explain why people are so invested in winning that they won't abide by the rules?

Maniac 2020
Recent appointments to high office have created controversy among progressive, intelligent people. I'm talking about two things, of course. First of all, the election of Donald Trumpf as Leader Of The Free World (TM). Secondly, and no less controversially, the selection of a new Moderator who was not Maniac.

A Divide
I've seen horrible reactions these past 24 hours. Some celebrate that they have a champion, thinking he will bring this country to its greatest times. Others panic, fearing the same man will erode their rights and encourage persecution which will endanger their lives. Those whose views don't fall into that binary shirk away, fearing their voice is no longer welcome. This thread is about the lofty goal of uniting a further dividing nation.

I legitimately believe this. They're dragging us down, and we shouldn't let documents signed by whoevers 200+ years ago prevent us from reaching our fulfilment. For all the red's talk about the American dream, all of their shitty states' economies are driven entirely by subsidies from the wealthier liberal states. It's time to set ourselves free. Build a wall!
Condescension (10 D)

If Mexicans are fucking over rural states, it pales in comparison to the damage being done by rurals to urbans. All progress in the history of mankind has been done by enlightened urban peoples.

well somebody doesn't know how this country's economics work.
Condescension (10 D)

That's kind of the point. Uniting will just have this happen again and again and again until we finally realise that these two cultures are fundamentally incompatible. Half of the country has been outraged at the other for the last 50 years. It's time to sever ties with these savages.

ND, Trump isn't going to bother resurrecting a dead pipeline project. You should cheer on the hundreds of other pipelines in the proposal or early construction stages, though. They are far more damaging and risky because there are no protests forcing government oversight.

"Shit or I guess we can just wait until we can fully automate farming and then just deport these yokels to the pacific ocean."

yep. zero understanding of our economics.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
10 Nov 16 UTC
Automated farming would be fantastic. Farmers wouldn't have to get stiffed over by corporate blowhards for generations on end anymore. Environmental legislation would actually be enforced and the soil would actually be healthy. Maybe that would work out. Probably not before another Bundy shenanigan or two, but hey.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
10 Nov 16 UTC
I've never heard of automated farming, though. Maybe I'm just dumb. Old news.
Condescension (10 D)
10 Nov 16 UTC
We'd already have a fully-automated agriculture industry if we didn't need to subsidize a column of red states whose chief exports are crystal meth, high-fructose corn syrup and mongoloidism.
ND (879 D)
10 Nov 16 UTC
@Bo: Maybe. Hopefully we can get some pipelines and offshore drilling going. That will create a Energy Revolution 2.0.

@Condescension: Are you kidding you want to eat Republicans and deport them to the Pacific Ocean??????????
Condescension (10 D)

Some republicans are OK. I just want to eat the ones that don't live in cities.

Turning down the TPP is something Trump will have decent support on, considering both candidates ran on the same side of that issue. I personally would have liked the free trade boost but am okay with seeing that particular deal get rejected.

Conservatives don't want to take on refugees because they don't want to bring in people whose culture is categorically incompatible with their own.

Rural culture is categorically incompatible with urban culture. If we're not going to let refugees into this country, we should get all these rurals out of here too.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
10 Nov 16 UTC
Hillary ran on the platform of rejecting the TPP but she definitely supports it.

ND, oil is not permanent. Building infrastructure around it to sustain what we have is fine and I very much support our energy independence so long as we achieve it efficiently and safely, but alternatives are coming and the free market will make them viable soon enough. I imagine batteries will be first. Even Trump and Trumpettes like yourself could get behind the economic boom that alternatives could bring, regardless of your other stances.

Condescension, chill out. I don't know a thing about you and I don't know what you know about this site, but you are clearly looking for a fight and that is the kind of crap we have been working to cut down on. Quit it.
Condescension (10 D)
10 Nov 16 UTC
I'm not looking for a fight. I'm just saying things I believe, and 50% of America agrees with me.

Refugees and Asylum seekers
So i had a thought, under international law, those seeking asylum are entitled to protection if they have reason to fear for their life. Thus pretty much anyone fleeing the Syrian war should probably automatically be granted asylum.

What about LGBT folk from the US, fearing political repression and violence in the streets. Should we (europeans) open our borders?
