Lacking Strategy for World Diplomacy
In my searches I've yet to find any helpful strategy or tactic articles for World Diplomacy. Obviously the point is to develop your own twist on the common strategy, but for someone like me playing their first world game after focusing on classic and modern for two years it's a problem. Anyone have any tips for World Diplomacy (specifically Argentina).

iOS 10 Problem
Okay, so it's kind of shit in terms of typing things. It used to be that when I was typing on my phone when the typing went off of where the screen was currently positioned, the screen would move to accommodate so you could always see what you are typing, so now when I'm on my phone I have to physically move where on the page the screen is viewing to see where I'm typing. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Do players sometimes get randomly muted during game?
This happened in my first game and now it happened in my second. I'll look down at the list of players and one of them will just randomly be muted. What's going on? Did I randomly click on the screen and mute somebody? Site problem? A bug? I caught this one pretty quickly so I don't think I missed any important conversations but still!!

I mean, regardless of how likely someone is to be assaulted on campus, the fact still remains that 1/6 (approx) women in the US will experience a sexual assault in their lifetime, which is a disgusting stat. But alas, that is a debate for a different time.

https://www.rainn.org/statistics/victims-sexual-violence (sources include doj as well)

In the situation you explain, it would take years and years for that type of situation to arise, and it would offer plenty of warning signs to the citizens. At which point guns could be stockpiled then. When it comes down to it I believe that the deaths caused by guns today are more important then an unlikely future centuries down the road. My problem today is with people (and I do not think you fall into this group) who are unwilling to consider limitations (not a complete removal) on guns to help reduce the number of gun deaths.

Two spoilers this election, you can vote for left of Hillary Jill Stein, or sane of Trump Gary Johnson.
TrPrado (461 D)

(+1)
Stein won't be on the ballot in all 50 states, and she might be arrested for trespassing and vandalism, so nah. Also she's too far left and lacking exposure to get real traction anyway. Johnson is more likely to play some sort of spoiler, but he needs to have lasting power to get to November for that to be the case. Also, a decent amount of Trump's support is from a sort of cult of personality, so that's pretty hard to spoil. Studies have shown Johnson is pulling more off of Clinton than off of Trump, so there aren't any real parallels of spoiling.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

Her getting arrested for trespassing and vandalism would actually force the media to cover the protests instead of talking incessantly about Colin Kaepernick, so I hope she does. It would be an ironic benefit to the whole situation.

If Trump and Clinton aren't in jail yet, nothing short of murder will put them there.
JamesYanik (548 D)

And it also depends on who you kill. If Trump kills some random black kid and puts his head on a stake supporters will love it. If Clinton absorbs the soul of yet another victim via her succubus powers, her supporters will love it.

But if either of them shoots a gorilla then their campaign is dead. IDFK why everyone loves Harambe so much, but tis a power that should not be messed with

A useful data point to consider for the gun debate: the Black Panthers. A reasonable example of the 2nd Amendment actually being used for armed resistance to oppression in the modern era.

And I cringe when people tell their kids guns cause mass murders and therefore have zero use in America and anyone who disagrees is a "drunken hillbilly"

I looked into the bureau of justice and they came up with a number of 1.1 to every 1000 people for a rape rate, it didn't stratify by gender but the survey was proportionate, but the very max that means a .22% rape rate if every 1.1 out of the 1000 ratio were to be female (thus being 1.1/500) which we know is not the case

http://www.bjs.gov/content/pub/pdf/cv14.pdf

I looked at your source and at the bottom it lists 17 separate sources, 7 of which are the DOJ. But i went o the separate DOJ sites and none of them gave a 1 in 6 statistic or even close:

so i looked at the alternative sources (the other 10), and THEY added in alternate definition to rape, HERE IS THE DOJ DEFINITION:

"Rape - Forced sexual intercourse including both psychological coercion as well as physical force. Forced sexual intercourse means penetration by the offender(s). Includes attempted rapes, male as well as female victims, and both heterosexual and same sex rape. Attempted rape includes verbal threats of rape.

Sexual assault - A wide range of victimizations, separate from rape or attempted rape. These crimes include attacks or attempted attacks generally involving unwanted sexual contact between victim and offender. Sexual assaults may or may not involve force and include such things as grabbing or fondling. It also includes verbal threats."

whereas these other sources added in what is commonly referred to as sexual harassment as "rape". one of them even referred to what is known as 'cat-calling'' as a form of rape...

The figures for .22% still are grossly high for western society, but they aren't even the highest. 1 in 6 was simply a major dramatization of the statistics.

Sorry it took me so long to reply, I was going through all 17 sources so it took me a while

I cringe at the overuse of the word cringe by internet culture.
JamesYanik (548 D)
07 Sep 16 UTC
@TrPrado

I use cringe as a word in regular conversation, and not very often. Now that's it going to be overused, once people get sick of it, I'll maintain a natural usage of the word and people will look at me like "get with the times no-one says cringe anymore" and I'll want to beat their heads in, go on the lamb, evade federal authorities, sneak across the border, murder my was through drug cartels creating my own stockpile of drugs which i will sell and leverage for money, which i will use to buy guns to arm the populace and hold the final glorious Mexican revolution, bringing true democracy to Mexico, and increasing industrious in a brilliant wave of enlightenment as I spread across the globe like Beyonce spread across America, when truthfully she doesn't even write her own songs, like the number of names in the credits specifically for songwriters, is enough letters to write a whole new song, it's nothing against talented singers, I just have a little less respect, I mean look at Billy Joel, but then again Billy Joel is a frickin' legend man, it'll be a sad day when he dies. Like everyone got super upset when Michael Jackson and Prince died, and Prince was a sad story, but Michael Jackson? I believe that man was a child molestor, respect his music but the man himself was awful and he didn't deserve his glorification, I mean he deserved some of it, but i dunno man it's pretty jacked up, and the same goes for Harambe, I mean come on that damn ass Gorilla was gonna kill that child he's sprinting with the kid smashing into the water at his ankles, but you wanna know why he is glorified in the media, because they heard the headline "black monkey gets shot" and they didn't realize it was literal, but not he's inshrined in glory, that's what the media can do, and people keep saying it's the Zionists, but nah man it just humans and there own values, and it's bad that we don't see as much news about Ukraine and Russia, that shit is still going down, but you get less coverage because people got bored, and the worst is buzzfeed, that stuff is stupid, it is attention span pandering and some of the things they do are just accusing white people of racism but that's PC bro, i dunno man societies gone to a weird funky ass place.

I just dunno

Yes, lets be sure to attack my choice of words, as opposed to admitting the obvious. if you dont care about gun control, then you are guilty of manslaughter. You should stand trial alongside every single motherfucker because not only did you do nothing, you said nothing, and you argued with people who were right. this has gone on long enough. when a school full of little kids gets slaughtered the best you people can come up with is that the school needed armed teachers?

The day part of my job includes needing to own and use a firearm, is the day I quit teaching and join a peace commune that fights shell oil or something.

@brainbomb

"Yes, lets be sure to attack my choice of words"

it's not an attack, i'm just saying that when you're referring to 160+ million people, it's not wise to stereotype.

"as opposed to admitting the obvious"

opinion... and a vague one. "obvious" being gun control: I get that... but what level? what specifics? that is not "obvious"

"if you dont care about gun control, then you are guilty of manslaughter"

i DO care about gun control, and the people who DON'T, are not guilty of manslaughter, but they do need to be informed/voted against en masse

"You should stand trial alongside every single motherfucker because not only did you do nothing, you said nothing, and you argued with people who were right."

NO. I NEVER SAID I WAS ANTI GUN-CONTROL.
Also it's funny, because zero of the gun control measures that Democrats offered would have prevented Sandy Creek, since then they've been rewritten, but you weren't "right"

"when a school full of little kids gets slaughtered the best you people can come up with is that the school needed armed teachers? "

no... i never was for that. I never said that. Argue against ME, not mediocre republican philosophy.

Take away all guns? no. Gun control? yes.

but i'll want specifics, and we can debate those specifics. Everything you just said was an extremely violent pathos appeal against the far right, and NONE of it applies to me.
TrPrado (461 D)

"with his young son indoctrinating him into gun culture proudly. that kid has no chance of questioning guns." - i don't know, do kids not often question their parent's crazy beliefs?

I know at least two atheists who have Christian fundamentalist parents.

I think the more extreme the views the easier it is, as a teenager who is likely rebellious anyway, to shrug them off.

But i've very little in the way of evidence for this.

it was an attack on this histper-ish diatribe about cringe being a faux pas. Gimme a fucking break, were talking about a guy walking into a barbeque place in the ozarks a few miles from an Army base, talking about how calm he is because he carries guns. Okay thats nice, I have been calm everywhere I have ever gone, even the ghettos of st louis and north omaha. I never needed a gun to feel calm. that was the point of this topic, how can you truly claim to be calm if you need a gun just to feel safe?

so yes, it does make me cringe, it makes me feel sick to my stomach that hes setting this example for his kid. When/If I have kids, they can think whatever they want about religion, god, politics. Thats their life. Parents should never be teaching young kids that gun culture has been positive for america. thats gonna fuck that kid up
