Peregrine: Read the OP by Lord Zultar. Wjessop was actually Sargmacher, a user who was banned from the site a while back for multi-accounting. It has been discovered that he started a new account to get back into the site, and having been found out, bearing in mind the seriousness of his previous cheating, the Mods have once again banned his ass.

Also, it has been confirmed that only Zultar and the one true JMO are allowed to be funny.

Also, not mentioning who of course, but in general, why would someone who simply wants nothing to do with the forum come back with a different multi.

"Once a cheater; always a cheater" is not how the moderators have approached things for as long as I've been around. I've cheated, I know at least 10 other regulars on the forum offhand that have cheated, and there's plenty more. I think the phrase to use when discussing Sarg is more like "500 times a cheater; probably still a cheater."

Yea, I agree with bo... there are likely a ton of people here who started early on and were ignorant of the rules and how they apply and accidentally cheated. I for one recently had to negotiate that I wasn't purposefully acting as a multi but I tried to get back on the site after months away no longer had access to the email registered with the account and didn't have my password. So i made a new account and a mod flagged it. we discussed and here I am... still delivering smallpox to the webdip community one forum post at a time.

Out of curiosity, did the wjessop incarnation of Sargmacher cheat in any games?

I talked to him on steam (or, I was talked at) and be alleged that he hadn't, and he shouldn't be punished for something he did five years ago because "he didn't email the mods first"

People can change quite considerably and do so all the time. It would be nice to think wjessop has achieved a state of maturity where he no longer feels the need to cheat in online board games to achieve a sense of self wealth.

It is unfortunate he hasn't lost the urge to trample over site rules as if he has some sort of devine right to be here, but hey ho.

For clarity, if he had returned after years away and been open with the mods, would he have been allowed to return as wjessop or Sarg2, or would he have stood no chance?

Wjessop should wait awhile - like a year, and try again, but email the mods first this time. A lot of people here still have contact with him so he can easily pull a Sandgoose.

Let me just say that his cheating was probably among the worst, if not the worst, in site history. I won't go into it more than that.

But I like to think that some people can change as well. I had informed him that if he stays away from the site for one year and asks to come back, then we would consider it. He has to be completely open about everything as Sandgoose was and it is a definite possibility.

Had he cheated since he came back, zultar? I could understand not wanting to be associated with the old name if he had truly reformed.

I hesitate to involve myself in these things, I'm (hopefully) a reasonable guy who has been around for a while without any major dramas (up or down!) but I do wonder and enough people know who I am (although weirdly it seems that the mods I like keep resigning - no 2WL that isn't you) Also it seems like (I'm using too many brackets) in my statements! I like correctly or incorrectly to see myself as a median kind of guy. I play a lot of Webdip, I create games etc, I play in the forum but I've never been a particular prolific kind of poster. Much as I love the forum (and as I've previously comment, miss what some would term the good old days), I'm not a major part of that side of the site, however I have to ask

Has Sarg/Wjessop served his time? I was here during the time of Sarg - he was a knob, he screwed up a lot of games and he did it knowingly and willingly. Oddly however he also wasnt a bad dip player and I just wonder if he has learnt his lesson. Along with Octavious I'd love to get a couple of answers

- Did Wjessop cheat/multi? To be clear did he ever create other logins and most importantly did he ever play in other games with himself? (ignoring anything that came before)
- If he'd had the balls to approach the mods and beg forgiveness a la Sandgoose, would he have had the option to be reinstated?

I never really knew wjessop,I'm not convinced we ever played a game together but I do believe in a little bit of forgiveness and I just wonder if that could ever be extended in this case? The reality is you did open the door with Sandgoose and rightly or wrongly, whilst you can argue the merits of each case individually this has set a precedent
