This is a bad idea. Part of the reason why I like webDip is the clean and consistent graphics style. There are few better ways to ruin this than a bright magenta name in the middle of blues. Enormous chains of icons and awards would also look tacky and annoying. Trophies for tournaments would only pile up. Three is a good limit, eh?

I'm afraid I also disagree with icons that go to more than say 10 or 20 people. The donator icons are the exception - because the site needs the money to run. But little clocks on nearly every name? That's a bit overkill.

I'd support "Gold, silver, bronze ghosts updating monthly for the top 3 GR leaders." This actually means something. It is an impressive achievement and probably should be recognized (remind me, was integrating Ghost-Ratings into the webDip codebase vetoed somehow?).

Now, you know it's up to you whether or not you want to just do the bare minimum of 15 pieces of flair.. Or... well, like Abgemact, for example, has thirty seven pieces of flair, okay. And a terrific smile.

Anyway, OT, I like Octavius's idea of a player of the month. One single player on the site. Don't tie it to an election (damn no, mafia is bad enough), but tie it to the *fastest riser in the GR*. That's something to aspire to, and it isnt always the same person every month.

You know as well as I that updates to this site are few and far between. It seemed silly and wasteful to simply leave a feature unused.

I think the Mods should play in a 24 hour cycle public game each month (24 hours = 1910 or so). We then have a thread where the entire site can comment on their moves, their mothers. their prospective moves. The winner of the game gets a gold star.

It will be a motley mix of SOW, Call Me a dirty s-and-so while at the same time focus the looney forum people onto one Mod dissing forum thread which has a chance of being Diplomacy related.

So, I've been talking to kestas in parallel and he had some logistical concerns. Based on the feedback I got here, it didn't seem worth the time to convince him they could be overcome, so it looks like we won't be proceeding with this.
