One more elaboration on how small barriers build up:
-Because women are less likely to pursue promotions because of how they are unfairly perceived for doing so at work, and are less likely to succeed at doing so because they're viewed as "unladlylike" for professionally advocating for themselves as men would, they generally will earn less than their male partners of a similar age.
-This means that when they have children, if someone has to take time off, it's the woman, because the man earns more and his career is "more important". This isn't American families doing anything evil, it's just the logical consequence of women hitting a glass ceiling - they get pushed out of the workforce as other pressures arise, including childcare and eldercare.
-This means that it's very hard for women to get back in to the workforce.

And what's the alternative? Don't have children? What the fuck kind of society would we be if we said, don't have children if you want a career (the message krellin is sending every single woman on the planet: don't have kids if you want a career)? And notice how we're never sending men that message - when men have kids, they don't have to *choose* (as krellin would put it) to leave their jobs, because their wife, who conveniently makes less than they do, is the logical candidate for that role. So yeah, gender roles can be problematic, and there's nothing about biology that has women being promoted slower in the corporate world.
Yes, @Chess_Diva. The parental leave is not a universal barrier in all countries. Women having challenges climbing the corporate ladder, and those barriers are what generate the pressure for women to drop out of the workforce.
Sorry, "women have challenges climbing the corporate ladder ^in all countries".

I'll make it simple for you dumbass: There are no laws and no structures in place that prevent women from obtaining **any** position they want to achieve in this country **IF** they have the ambition, the intellect, the experience, etc.

I have already addressed why there are lower percentages of women in top positions...but you are too stupid to read and comprehend the reality of that answer. Instead, you will not stop insisting that the poor, pitiful women NEED the help of you, the Noble White Man, so save them from themselves.

You think women are incapable on their own...you are EXACTLY the type of individual that looks at a resume and judges it by the name and implied gender. People seeking real talent don't. People seeking to make politically motivated moves do.

Do I deny that racism/sexism exists in the workplace? Of course not. And here's a news flash -- it will *alwasy* exists. Just as YOU will always be a bigot and think women and minoritites will not make it unless you help them...because you degrade them and look down upon them.

That racism and sexism will always exist in the hearts of human beings, it doesn't matter what laws you put in place...in fact, they are ALREADY in place...

So start a company, and hire the BEST talent, regardless of age or gender. But FUCK YOU if you claim that I am the problem simply because a problem exists elsewhere.

Here's a news flash: Black people are racist and judge people on race. Women are sexist, and judge individuals -- INCLUDING EACH OTHER -- based upon gender. All of your bullshit, asexual politics will NEVER remove this from the hearts of men.

But...back to the bottom line...which is you IDIOTIC head count....You know why there are so few women at the top of Fortune 500 Companies? LACK OF QUALIFIED CANDIDATES!

You know why no woman has been in the White House yet? Because the Liberal Press - the same Liberal Press you worship that villifies Conservatives, is the same Liberal press that examines every outfit a woman wears, and judges her on appearance, instead of quality talent. Liberals are the WORST offenders in these areas - you do recall the manner in which Sarah Palin was ravaged in the press for everything BUT her policies?

Give me a fucking break.

New Flash-- some women like to stay home and be mom. Fewer women WANT to enter business school. Fewer women WANT to be heads of corporations. Fewer women WANT to be politicians. And that is an ACCEPTABLE CHOICE.

But...the Noble Liberal White Man thinks that until we ahve equal OUTCOMES...until every number they can measure has balanced by their demented judgement of right and wrong....the world is racist, sexist, blah blah blah. NO....NO NO NO.

Truth...if you have a lower percentage of women seeking high positions of power, you will have a naturally lower percentage of women running the show...AND THAT IS OK....

TRUTH...As long as women MAKE THE PERSONAL CHOICE to leave the workplace and stay home with a baby...which is a GOOD AND ACCEPTABLE CHOICE....then they will have gaps in employment, gaps in experience, and therefore be less qualified to run the show...BY CHOICE...WHICH IS GOOD AND ACCEPTABLE.

But here is the real crux of the matter: The good and idiotic Noble Liberal White Man says that all people are exactly the same, that noone is better than anyone at anything, that gender does not matter at all and should not even be a consideration in any decision....and then they count cocks in the office place and complain when there are too many swinging dicks in the cubicles. WHY??!? What the fuck difference does it make who is in the cubicle next to you IF WE ARE ALL EQUAL? **PARTICUALRLY** if the cube next to you has a swinging dick in it instead of a women BECAUSE SHE DOESN'T WANT TO WORK.

But the good and Noble Fucking Liberal White Male IN TRUTH seeks to DENY women their choices...seeks to deprive them of the freedoms they enjoy in our society, and will not be happy until every single one of them is forced in to the work place to be as miserable as you.

That's not freedom...that social slaverly for women.

I hope my daughters stay home and make babies if they choose and live off the wealth of thier husband if that is their choice.

Likewise...I hope the company I am starting for them becomes a great success, and that they fight for the chairmanship when they graduate from school...if that is their CHOICE.

And that's the ket, Noble Liberal White Man...women make choices...and have EQUAL OPPORTUNITY... but your problem is you DON'T LIKE THEIR CHOICES and therefore seek to change society...to CHANGE WOMEN to meet YOUR DEMENTED MALE EXPECTATIONS of what is right, and what is wrong for a woman.

You repulse me.

Jesus Christ, are you fucking read anything I write? I could buy some cockamamie bullshit story you might cook up that says, oh, maybe it wouldn't be 50%. Maybe it would be 40% or 30% of CEOs. But 4%? Four fucking per cent? For every 1 female Fortune 500 CEO, there are TWENTY-THREE men. That is not the result of "choices" and "less interest" and whatever other bullshit you can come up with. Women interested in being CEOs are not so uninterested in "business" and other "serious man things" that you think women don't like that there are TWENTY-THREE times as many male Fortune 500 CEOs.

If you're really writing that off as the consequence of choices, and ignoring all the real barriers I've presented - that women are less likely to get calls back, more likely to get passed up for promotions, less likely to be get new opportunities at work, more likely to be punished for advocating for their own interests - then go ahead. Live in your imaginary world where white men are just 23x better and more interested than women in running the world's largest companies.

You know what the problem really is, krellin? Too many people like you chalk up systematic exclusion from society up to "choices" (mostly Hobson's choices) and other bullshit. I bet if you were alive during the Reconstruction, you'd have probably said all those black folks chose to work in chain gangs.

You know why there are fewer qualified women? Because of all the barriers I've mentioned that keeps women from getting that experience.

You're being really rich, krellin. Every single evidence of discrimination is, in your view, just evidence of women making different choices. And feminists are the wrong ones, for wanting women to have more choices available to each other, when you, for a fact, KNOW and can speak on behalf of every woman everywhere, that they really just don't want success in business or life outside the home, they're perfectly at home, barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen juggling vacuum cleaners. How convenient that you've decided woman's choices dovetail exactly with what you think they're good for. I don't think you have any right to be disgusted at anyone.
Hypothetical question, krellin: what percentage of women as Fortune 500 CEOs might suggest discrimination to you? 4% is just a fucking ton of women, apparently. Does 3% suggest discrimination? 1%? 0% (a figure we saw not that long ago)?

Is there any evidence at all that would convince you discrimination is real?

I don't give a shit how many CEOs are female, or if there has been a woman head of government/state, it mattered once but not now.

But women still face sexism in the workplace. Women get paid less than men, and it is no surprise that female dominated industries have low wages. Casual and part time workers tend to be women, and women who take maternal leave often find it difficult to get back into work. Hell, the reason most people taking parental leave are women is because most households make the pragmatic choice to have the man work to keep the higher wage.

"You know why no woman has been in the White House yet? Hahahahahahaha, who would have guessed the liberal establishment is sexist, wow not me! Also, while I have no love for Julia Gilliard, the amount of sexism she faced was horrendous, and guess what, most of it came from the conservative end of the media. Boo hoo krellin, boo hoo.

Yep, as more people start carrying firearms, physical strength matters less and less, and aggression becomes a disadvantage.
Honestly though, modern humans will go away pretty soon, once some genetic engineer comes out with model 2.0(shorter so consumes fewer resources, larger head and brain so more intelligent, less aggressive and more cooperative). Just a better human in every way.

But the truth is, women don't have balls. The people who make the REALLY good decisions will always have balls. And then everyone below those elite few will be women. And then everyone below the women, will be the rest of the men.

2 Things...

- Canadian Prime Minister, Kim Campbell, was never elected. She took over when Mulroney left with a year left in his mandate.

- In Québec (I don't recall for Canada), it's called a Parental Leave. Parents get to decide how to split up the time. No gender involved.

50 resumes in front of me, pulled with the very sexist keywords ("Electrical" and "Engineer" and ("Audio" or "Infotainment").

50 resumes. 3 of them are women.

Why don't women run companies? Because they are trying to.

Fucking morons like Cach think that some static statistic tells him all he needs to know. In his world, the world won't be "right" until he has filled the quotas that he, The Noble White Male Liberal, has established...until he has *commanded* that women stop making the CHOICES that they make, and instead live their lives the way he, the Noble White Male Liberal, demands they live.

Fuck women, he says! Who the hell are women to choose their own career paths! They MUST enter the professions in the precise numbers that Cach and his perverse, bigoted Noble White Male Liberals demand!!!

Your views are immune to evidence, krellin. Any evidence of discrimination against women is instead just evidence that you're really right and you know better than anyone else what women want and hey, it's not financial independence or a career, it's to stay at home and be your baby factory.
Stressedlines (1559 D)

Cachi, Krellin was basically saying "we cant have even #s, because the % ofwomen in the fields that they were arguing about was too low.

Example, as far as I know, Krellin does something in Human resources. He had a job for an electrical engineer, and 50 resumes on his desk, only 3 were women.

his arguement, which is valid to me, is that, "how can everythign be 'fair', if the reality is not balanced'.

However, before this goeson, I will say this. I am not a go-between between krellin and his mute fan club...lol

Barriers to entry exist before some brainless HR screener looks at resumes.
krellin (80 DX)
18 Jul 13 UTC
Ahhhh yes....so, the fact that when I go through hundreds of resumes a day, and can only find a handful of female candidates....meaning that women can't run the companies because THEY ARE NOT TRYING TO GET THEJOBS....this is me denying evidence

The % of women at the top is not all about sexism...it's about women not trying, dumbass.

but I know...those pesky little facts just bug the hell of you.
FUCK WOMEN...we must ENSLAVE THEM AND DENY THEM THEIR PERSONAL CAREER CHOICES!!! Who the hell are they to decide what education they want to get and career paths - or no career path - that they want to CHOOSE.

As for women at the top...if you look at statistics for school admission, you are *beginning* to see women apply to Business school, for example, ALMOST at equal rates to men, which is a substantial increase from the past. In other words, in the past, there were even fewer women in B-School, and therefor THERE IS NOT A LARGE POOL OF WOMEN WITH 30+ YEARS OF EXPERIENCE TO RUN COMPANIES.

If you had a 50% Female CEO ratio tody, it would in fact be grossly skewed towards favoring women over men, as WE DO NOT HAVE 50% WOMEN TRYING FOR THE TOP JOBS.

What the fuck is so hard to understand about this.

But I know...you aren't interested in reality, and you are not intersted in the life CHOICES THAT WOMEN MAKE. All you want is to enact your grossly perverse and bigotted view of "equality"

As for women being "baby factories"...did I ever use that term? I did not, but I sure as hell am not going to such an incredible Noble White Liberal as you and *degrade* the choice of a woman to stay home and raise a child. That is the absolute hieght of male arrogance and bigotry...to suggest a woman that has made THE CHOICE TO BE A MOTHER is somehow inferior to someone else is just about the most disgusting, perverted, male chauvinistic, bigoted comment in the world
Seriously, krellin, you've just conceded my point. We don't have qualified female candidates in a lot of these positions because systematic discrimination over the past 3 decades has prevented most women who wanted to from getting that experience.

I'm not saying making the choice to be a mother is inferior. I'm saying it should be a choice, and I'm really not convinced it is.
And just FYI, you don't need 30+ years of experience to run a fortune 500 company. Marissa Mayer started working at Google in 1999 and is running Yahoo today.
krellin (80 DX)
18 Jul 13 UTC
Stackable - good god you are a fucking moron. It wasn't "systematic discrimination"...it was THE CHOICE OF WOMEN NOT TO GO IN TO B-SCHOOL OR ENGINEERING. Instead, they made *other* lifestyle choices...education, which is heavily skewed towards women; nursing, which is heavily skewed towards women; "homemaker" - RAISING THE NEXT GENERATION OF HUMAN BEINGS - A NOBLE PROFESSION - heavily skewed towards women.

I always find it incredibly ironic that Noble White Liberals tell us that the greatest, most noble profession is Educator, because they are teacing the next generation of people. But...god forbid...if a woman chooses to stay in the home and raise her children, to be home when they come home from school, to be with them during the summer...somehow these home educators, these women that are raising the next generation are somehoe social deviants in the eyes of teh Liberal...to whom if you make a choice other than becoming a cog in the corporate machine (which machine they also despise, ironically...) then you are an inferior human.

Pathetic.
krellin (80 DX)
18 Jul 13 UTC
Stackable...Great! Look at how the sytem is working! Women - who are in the upper echelons of companies in low percentages due to their lifestyle choices...are still able to surpass their male competitors and run Fortune 500 companies!!! Awesome! The system works!!!

You've made my point!
