Area 51 1/2

Even though everyone thinks that there is suspicious activity in Area 51, the real action is at Area 51 1/2, where Elvis, Michael Jackson, and everyone who has "disapeared" go to. They are hidden at Area 51 1/2, which is located at the East Pole in the Southwest Pacific.

And yes, Elvis and Michael Jackson are alive, just like the Wizard of Ox (not a typo) and the Truth Fairy are as well. Don't question me.

Gunboat challenge

gameID=115271 has one wild card.The participants joined till now are:2WhiteLine,Lando,Barn3tt,Fairfax and myself.The sixth player most probably will be The Czech,I'm sure he'll join it as soon as he gets online.Based on interest shown the wild card will be given to the best positioned gunboater.So among these players:

Colonial Diplomacy

It says "present but not active." Can we please re-activate it? It is my all-time favorite variant and it was even a retail one for a time. It seems like a very viable option for play.

Yes - I asked about the cancel, since 6 of us are waiting in A2
Orathaic said "General Lee fills Gigarion's spot in A2" -- clearly if GenLee went to A1, something crossed.
Who is filling the 7th spot in A2?

Maybe we need to delegate each conference out to a local commisioner. Like put 3 people in charge of each of the three levels. Then they can each recruit on the forums for the missing spots. If they have 3 spots and 4 applicants, they can just choose one.

Seems like that would work a little better than 8 random people with no power trying to organize something they are not in charge of.

Orathaic needs to do this. He has a set plan for promoting to fill holes and for seeding based on GR. Random recruiting then just plopping people in is the wrong way to go about it when you get to A and A* as people in B who should have been promotoed when the holes opened up will be slighted and denied their place in the higher league.

What about B? Wh don't we just re-seed everyone who wants to play and see how many games we fill, if there's not a single game running after multiple weeks, clearly this is not working.

We had to cancel B3 because Rallinator no-showed. So... yeah. Let us know if there's a way to move forward.

Agreed. The best option as I see it is to start a new thread looking for players. Maybe have a link to the thread on the main page. Give people 1 week to sign up.

Since the signup period was 6 weeks +, some % of those who signed up arent interested or available anymore.

yeah I agree -- at this point if not signed up you don't get in. Use the people currently signed up, plus the people in this thread who wanted ot be added, reseed if nec and start again with less games.

Oh I don't think it's orathraic's fault, people are flaky and some jerk changed email addresses etc. Just saying that now that it's clear every single league doesn't have enough people we should just re-do them with who we got.

Well... I think you'd have to rank everyone based on how they ended in past leagues and use GR if they were not in a league or something, and then split them in groups of 7...

I don't know for sure if that's all though, and if orathaic would not just do it himself anyways, it's just an idea...

Has anyone ever seen this move made in spring of the last turn?

I was France and the three of us executed quite a beautiful western triple in a public press only game. I think the idea was proposed to the entire board in 1902 and met little resistance except for maybe turkey in the Mediterranean.

Mild Weather We're Having

Hey guys! It's -2ºC in Reykjavik right now! How's the weather where you are? Try to include the temperature in the city you're in (and please tell state/territory/province/country as well).

(P.S. - this is actually remotely important to me. I was told to ask real people so weather.com isn't an option.)

Gunboat for people with a brain

gameID=115165 Since HumanWave has complained about his gunboat games, I've decided to set him up with a good one. Of course, he is invited. And I hope that Split and The Czech will join.
